Sparks is the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, who wanted us to post something positive and uplifting at the start of the week.  While she no longer blogs, i like to post an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border Charlotte/Mother Owl participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too.  Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let Diane know!

This week the theme is A Pet's Life.

A pet's life is so short,

not unlike the flowers

for we teach them to live with us

and adapt their lives to ours.

Our children's lives are long,

for this we raise no fuss,

because we are teaching them

to continue to live after us.

*******

Grandpa says if he's

reincarnated someday

make him Grandma's pet

*******

Our pets do lead lives

which we oft with envy view,

no responsibilities,

no tiring work to do.

They have their meals provided,

cushions on which to lie,

toys for their entertainment,

window TV to espy.

The dogs they get their walks in,

sometimes cats also go out,

then come home to relax

or in the house, to run about.

We work very hard to keep

our pets in the lifestyle

to which they are accustomed,

in return, they make us smile.
