Lulu wants to make an announcement.

Everyone needs a teddy bear!

Sparks is the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, who wanted us to post something positive and uplifting at the start of the week.  While she no longer blogs, i like to post an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

***********************************

Our dear friend Diane is taking a break

accommodations we must make

we miss her poetry and wit

so carry on as Poetry Monday's a hit!

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border.  Charlotte/Mother Owl and i are keeping it going while she takes a blog break, we hope temporarily.  Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let us know!

This week the theme is Basket.

There's a pretty basket

on my dresser it does stand,

to get the things i drop there,

whatever i have at hand.

It catches change and keys,

my wallet, a book or two,

and even this month's bills

so they won't get overdue.

But when it does get overfull

and spills over to the vanity,

i give in and clear it out

so it holds my sanity!

*******

A wealthy man had a big basket full of trash,

old papers, fruit peels, even his old cigar ash.

In looking to get it gone and seeing no trash can,

he simply passed it off to the nearest homeless man.

The homeless man did thank him and go along his way,

but he came back to the spot on the very next day.

He'd binned the trash and given the basket a good shower

then filled it to the brim with dirt and beautiful flowers.

He gave it to the rich man who was shocked and did say,

"Why in the world would you bring this beauty to me today?"

The homeless man said, "In the world we all play our part,

and give to all the other folks whatever is in our heart."

Future themes are:

2/5   basket (today!)

2/12 toes

2/19 spice

2/26 ants

  9. Java Bean: "Ayyy, you cannot go wrong with a Teddy bear! Or any kind of stuffie really! My favorites are Underdog, Mr. Bill, and Woody Woodpecker, because they all shout different things when you bite them in just the right spot!"
Lulu: "I have never figured out how those talking stuffies work. I can't even figure out the ones that squeak. I am stuffie-challenged I guess ..."
