Sparks is the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, who wanted us to post something positive and uplifting at the start of the week. While she no longer blogs, i like to post an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Our dear friend Diane is taking a break
accommodations we must make
we miss her poetry and wit
so carry on as Poetry Monday's a hit!
Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border. Charlotte/Mother Owl and i are keeping it going while she takes a blog break, we hope temporarily. Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just write a poem in the comments or leave us a link to yours.
A loaf of bread walks into a bar
and tries to buy a drink,
the bartender tries to be nonchalant
and doesn't even blink.
"What'll you have? the barkeep asks,
and the bread replies, "Rye whiskey,
but limit me to one
or I might get too frisky."
The bartender was intrigued
wondering what drunk bread might do,
thus, he didn't refuse him,
when later, he ordered round two.
After a third the bread
began to sing and dance,
the barkeep kept them coming,
to see this, he wouldn't miss the chance.
The bread, he put on quite a show
and would have gone all night,
but finally something happened
which on it all put a blight.
His credit card, it got declined
and ended it all and so,
the barkeep missed bread's finale
because the loaf ran out of dough!

ReplyDeleteThere's a couple pictures of some very happy puppies.
ReplyDeleteLovely dogs.
ReplyDeleteGod bless, Mimi.
Puppies can be real pests sometimes, but they are also fun to play with. Gramma used to make bread every week when Mom was growing up. She loved that and can still smell the bread in her head when she thinks about it.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is a huge bread fan---he doesn't eat sweets (!), but loves his bread. I need to share these quotes with him.
ReplyDeletePups and kitties are tough on the adult dogs and cats. Same thing here. Adorable.
ReplyDeleteLove your take on bread. Nothing is better than the smell of fresh baked bread.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Hugs, my friend. ♥
Such cute pups! Those were good Sparks and a good poem too!
ReplyDeletePlayful pup, tolerant big pup, that makes it nice! I liked the loaf/dough story, very cute!
ReplyDeleteCat

A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
I know I said it last time but that poem...you are THE single most creative person I (sorta) know!
ReplyDeleteI blogged about it several; years ago, but I could do a 4 page blog that no one would read, about the type of feeders you mentioned for birds in Katie's blog. Been there, done that and what a story. Too long for a blog. It's one of those things you tell over lunch or supper with friends, in person.
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny poem. I love your way with words.
ReplyDeleteCookie and Emmie are just so adorable together, or should I say TWOgether? They will definitely be on my Friday Funnies this week.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your bread poem. Who doesn't love bread?
Awww, that pup is just so sweet. Before long, they will be the best of furiends.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Misty and Timber
