Some of my regular readers had asked for an update about whether Carl and his mother, Ms. V, went on their vacation.
In short, no.
Ms. V's health has been fabulous, her check up two months ago was perfect, she is 80 and walks a few miles each day, does everything for herself except the housework she leaves for me, although she's able to do it herself when she must, drives, sings in the choir, etc..
Mr. L, three years younger, has seriously deteriorated neck vertebrae, shoulder trouble, insomnia, and other things which leave him in a great deal of pain almost all the time, and a few months ago when Ms. V was out shopping, he fell and seriously hurt himself.
As the time came closer and closer for her and Carl to leave, Ms. V got a gum infection, started feeling dizzy and generally unwell, ended up back at the doctor with sudden onset high blood pressure and dehydration, and a myriad of other things.
The day after she cancelled the trip, she woke up feeling perfect and all her symptoms are gone, showing she was worried about leaving Mr. L alone, which is what i thought the whole time, and also demonstrating how worry, fear and anxiety can cause all kinds, types and sorts of physical symptoms even if nothing is really "wrong."

I am so sorry for Ms. V. Worry and stress are never good things.

Good points about worry. I am also glad to hear that she did not want to leave Mr. L alone which may have been more out of compassion than worry.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to note that I made the Anonymous comment.
ReplyDeleteLove x 100 the tocks...they are good every day of the year and the hang over is a bonus.

Stress is very bad. We should all try to chill out!
