Blinking Lights and Good Timing , a Ten Things of Thankful Post

**********************************

Please excuse if my post makes me sound sleepy, as i am!  I’ve gotten to Thankful Day and i’m thankful for it and hope to get a nap soon.

I am thankful i did get one nap in this week, a full half hour before someone woke me up.  It does not happen often.

As for the blinking lights, Lawrence the Honda has one, the check engine light.  The pastor warned me when he gave me the car, it’s all the gas cap.  No matter how careful i am to put it on correctly, the check engine light will come on sometimes a trip or two after a fill-up, and then go off a trip or two later, or not until after the next fill-up.

I’m thankful it’s not anything to worry about, and thankful we don’t need inspection stickers any longer, at least for now, as a check engine light coming on for any reason was an automatic fail.

We’ve needed rain for a while and i’m very thankful we’ve gotten some.  Saturday night and into Sunday morning, we had a shower and it stopped just in time for Becca’s and my walk with Mr. Cal.  Mr. Cal was very thankful and so were we.

Then we got the same, a long, soaking shower, Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, and it stopped just before time to go to work.  Talk about thankful for good timing, twice.

Sunday also saw me at Ms. S’s house since Monday would be in NOLA, and i was thankful to meet Mr. Dan there.  He’s from the former South Vietnam and was “re-educated” for many years before getting out with his wife and 3 boys.  All 3 boys are doctors and take good care of their parents, and Mr. Dan, who speaks little English still, simply runs around the neighborhood visiting with the neighbors.  He showed up while Mr. D was napping and Ms. S was running an errand and was very friendly, but did not wait, striding off to see who else might be home.

#2 Son, Daughter-in-Law, and the children were at an out of town wedding, so i’m thankful i stopped to see Ms. D and have my visit on the way home from Ms. S’s house.  We enjoyed a nice hour together then i went home and was thankful to not have to leave again until morning.

On the way down Monday morning, i was very thankful for an easy trip, and once there, Uncle J was not feeling well at all (stomach upset), so i was thankful to have plenty of Grandma’s stuff to go through myself.

Also, i was thankful to be there when the contractor came to see the punch list of stuff which really needs doing in the house, which Grandpa has been putting off.  It’s getting done, hooray!

I was thankful to spend Monday evening at home instead of spending the night in NOLA (the reason for working Sunday) as i was the discussion leader at ladies’ circle Tuesday morning.

Thankfully my discussion leading was well received and i got to take care of Annie for a few hours when i got home, then of little Ben for a few hours while his mama and Annie napped.  He’s certainly a curious little guy and i was thankful he did nap a bit also, right in my lap.

Ms. G and i were thankful to finally get everything out of Patience the camper on Wednesday so it can go to its new home.  Bible study that evening was led by our most dynamic speaker and we were thankful for the great lesson.

Thursday after Ms. V’s place saw me running rEcess errands, i was thankful they all got done.

Friday with Annie we had a lovely walk, visited Ms. D on the way home, and then there was rEcess.

It’s always a thankful night when rEcess rolls around, i’m thankful our circle provided the meal, thankful we had fun and the parents had a respite.  We all leave tired, the best sign of a good time!

Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Clark and his co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.
