"Noooo," he wailed, "she'll probably make her Famous Company Spaghetti that isn't so famous and always gives me indigestion and do we have to go?"
His expression went from devastated to delighted when she answered, "Yes, we have to go, but I promise to make it up to you tomorrow night -- I have all the makings of your favorite pot roast ready!"

ReplyDeleteGood SSS! She knew she'd better be prepared with a bargaining chip. A good pot roast is a lot easier to eat than spaghetti anyway. :-)
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle about your reference to rubber bands in connection to pack rats. I've discovered that even rubber bands have a life span after they have been wrapped around something for a number of years.
Cute Six Sentence! This made me smile, because even today, this is a more common scene than anyone would want to admit lol One of the more difficult domestic challenges - how not to offend the chef when the chef is not much of a chef :D Tip? Make sure you have a tall glass of water with dinner!

ReplyDeleteNicely done on the writing prompt. I haven't made a pot roast in quite sometime. I generally make beef stew instead. :) My mother-in-law was a good cook. What I liked the best was her pies! Boy, was she a good pie maker! She taught me how to make biscuits which DH really appreciates because he's a huge bread eater. Oh, yeah she made a great pot roast, too.
I am fascinated by the Antikythera device... altho' I can always be distracted from my musings by a good cherry cobbler...
