There are two people at the shelter who are leaving. One is retiring, the other is moving away.
They will be sorely missed, and i am very thankful for both of them and what they have meant to the shelter and to me.
Ms. W is retiring, and i am thankful that:
she has been a driving force there for a long time
she put on great fundraising parties
she was always willing to let a sick cat or one that didn't get along with any others stay in her office
she would take very sick kitties home with her to nurse them back to health
she tried to give every kitty every chance possible to get a home.
Ms. A is moving away, and i am thankful that:
she took the time to send every volunteer a birthday card each year and to recognize each of us for the work we do
she set up several "giving back" programs with local businesses where if we mentioned the shelter while dining or shopping there, part of the proceeds went to the shelter
she was a master at decorating the shelter for different seasons
she was always on the look-out for new ways to get the word out about our mission to help cats
she has a great sense of humor and a love for cats that shines through.
