Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts that encourages us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.

This month, the prompts are being provided by Margaret Adamson and her friend Sue Fulton, and are posted by Elephant's Child.

This week's prompts are pictures from Margaret's friend Danny McCaughan.  Each gave me a separate impression.

She never got tired of looking at the sunset fire over the hills.

It was her favorite time of day, after her busy world grew still for a while and she was able to sit and relax, to dream, to just soak in the beauty and be thankful.

Even when there were storms it was beautiful, she was so glad to live right here.  At first it had seemed too far from everything, but now she was used to the drive.  She found herself looking forward to spotting the stones that lined the roadway on her way in.  Always one with an imagination, she thought they almost looked like they waited for her whenever she had to leave and come back.

Reaching for her dinner plate, she headed out to the porch.  This evening's show was especially lovely, she decided that even with the huge window it was impossible to stay inside.

"Hey, Duke, what are you doing here?"

"Isn't it obvious, Socks?  I am out here to ignore The Lady.  She wants to give me that nasty stuff she calls 'hairball remedy,' and I am simply not in the mood!"

"But Duke, why do you come hide over here at my house?"

"That should also be obvious, Socks.  She looks around our house for me, not yours."

"Well, okay, give me a minute to work on my own Lady, and once she lets me out, I'll take you to that new catnip patch the neighbor two doors down just planted."

"Splendid!  Much, much better than 'hairball remedy.'  Hop to it!"

  10. Mimi,

Both short stories are nicely done but I love the second one which brought a smile to my face. Oh yeah, you know a cat would never text you back. They barely want to acknowledge you unless you're carrying their food bowl. lol Happy WW!

  11. Count me in for Chocolate Chip Day. As far as reliving my past, I believe the first record that I purchased was Ray Charles, "What'd I Say". Listening to music is still a big part of my life. Have a blessed week.
