Sparks, the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, is on hiatus, so here's an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Delores and her Jenny are taking turns providing a theme for Poetry Monday, and i am trying my hand at participating.  This weeks theme is Thunder and Lightning and Rain.

How i wish Mother Nature would make up her mind
And let the clouds tell us exactly what kind
Of day it will be, how much rain it might bring,
But really and truly, here is the thing:
We get days that appear to have have light cloud cover
You would think it would just blow over,
Instead you get a whole two inches of rain
In about an hour, and boy what a pain.
If you are out in it you feel almost that
You somehow fell into the rain vat!
Then there are days more somber and gray
The clouds are so dark that you just have to say
It's going to be stormy, how the lightning does crack,
And the loud, loud thunder sounds like an attack.
It rumbles and grumbles, will it blow you away?
No, you just get a sprinkle the whole of the day!
So please, Mother Nature, do make up your mind,
Since we can't fool you, return the favor in kind!

  3. Mimi,

Your poem is purrfect for this time of the year. Yesterday, we were going to go to Walmart for our weekly run but before we did, we checked the weather. Radar revealed some pops up and a low chance of rain so we hung around to give it another check before venturing out. That's when the heavens opened with a good down pour. The radar soon revealed a large percentage of rain. Then our electricity went out. We were prepared to still go out but by the time the rain cleared it was later than we wanted so we stayed home. The power was off for three hours. I didn't think it would take that long but it did. Oh well...that's that let's hope we don't have any more problems with the electricity going out. :) Have a boogietastic week!

  6. I kept thinking of the phrase "Damn the torpedoes" on the way to work. I thought, "that can't be what it really is ... what does that mean?" I still don't know.

  8. My Dad always said:
It ain't no use to grumble and complain.
It's every bit as easy to rejoice.
When Ma Nature sorts the weather and sends rain.
    Rain's my choice.

    Yeah. It's all her. Sigh.
