Diane has really done it this time,
Making us be funny in rhyme.
(Although i guess if you want to,
An unrhymed funny poem would do.)
Sometimes inadvertent jokes
Are made by not always funny folks,
My Sweetie husband will sometimes say
Something that will make my day.
The other day, he had a pain,
Of his ankle bone he did complain,
He thought it might arthritis be,
And then he turned and said to me,
With great concern and quite a heavy sigh,
"Is it normal for one as young as I
To actually arthritis get?"
And i have not answered yet,
Yes, i held my tongue, for -- saint's alive! --
The man's already sixty-five.
He must think he is still a youth,
And he works very hard in truth,
Can still work tractors and pitch hay,
Dig for hours on a very hot day,
But i'm not going to say a word
To his statement a bit absurd,
He's kind and loving and me he does charm,
So if he thinks he's a kid, then what's the harm?

I wanted to say almost exactly the same as Elephant's Child. I just love tht tree fairy house -- could the creator of this come and visit my garden, pretty please?
ReplyDeleteAnd to be young inside like your hubby is an admirable trait. I hope he just sprained something and will be his youthful self in a week or so. The theme this time was reaaly tough. You strove manfully.
I love the fairy house made from the old tree and may just copy the idea. My daughter has a similar tree stump in her yard. I remember feeling young still at 65, a mere two years later and I still have young days, but not as many.
