Yes, It All Really Happened, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

Here we are again, Thankful Day, and again, i took notes and it helps.

Aren't we thankful for notes on the phone?  Yep, we are.

Last Saturday evening, Sweetie and Brother-in-Law, between them, had saved up enough to go have a meal out at a local hamburger/salad/poboy place.  They ordered at the counter, paid, got a receipt, and that's about all that went right.  The order was messed up twice, three items were forgotten and they had to go to the counter to ask for those things, and the manager was so upset about how long they had to wait and how many times things went wrong that she comped them the meal.  Full refund.  It's always a thankful thing when managers practice great customer service like that.

Sunday, i didn't have to get out of bed early, so i didn't.  Yes, church and Ms. S, but the later service and Ms. S after, and i got a bit of a lie in, unheard of around here.

Then Monday, i got to Ms. S's just in time to help.  She'd had an awful night, fell again, and was trying to change her bedding herself after spilling her Dr. Pepper.  She can hardly breathe sometimes, much less change a bed.  When someone's timing is impeccable, even my own, i don't peck at it, i'm just grateful for it.

Two weeks ago, at Ms. RW's house, we dealt with her husband and his decision to take way too many supplements.  Well, it didn't turn out to be that simple.

Mr. KW ended up in the hospital, and by Tuesday when i got there to clean, well, it was another of those i'm thankful for the timing things.  When your husband is in the hospital, and you are up there with him much of every day, and the daughter is coming in to care for the dogs a lot, things get scribbly and Ms. RW's place was actually untidy as well as in need of standard cleaning.

(Note:  there's a difference between tidying and cleaning.  When you put the dishes in the dishwasher, that's tidying so i can clean the sink, meaning scrub and disinfect it.  When you pick stuff up and put it away so i can dust the surfaces and actually get to the floors to sweep and vacuum and mop, you tidied and i cleaned.  Her place, especially with two sheddy dogs, needs cleaning regularly but i've never seen it truly untidy until this week.)

It turns out he has a stage 4 lymphoma, and they've called in hospice.  In a case like this, we can't be thankful for the diagnosis, we can be thankful he knows Jesus as his Savior and he's not in a lot of pain with the meds.

Bigger Girl got safely back to California, for which i am thankful, and her new phone was not working, refusing to accept calls.  It would make calls, and receive and send texts, but all calls to her resulted in the automated message This Is Not A Working Number.

It was a three ring circus as i called tech support, then messaged her to call me, then merged the calls, then got her to turn her phone off and call me with her friend's phone and merged that call, then she (and two of her friends helping) did all the stuff to her phone that tech support said, then got transferred to the next step up, and finally, after being on the phone with two support people and her and the two friends, her phone is finally working.  We did a happy dance at the end of that one.  (And now my phone and Sweetie's phone have quit sending pictures as texts, possibly because when they fixed our network something else got messed up, but that's another call to tech support i won't have time to make until this afternoon or tomorrow.)

Thursday was the office, and it was the annual putting-Christmas-in-the-attic.  My thankful is two-fold, i am not afraid of heights, and this is only a once a year occurrence.

Then we went to Ms. SE's house.  Last time, two weeks ago, they were out of town and had forgotten to leave a check, so Mr. DE was supposed to pay me by Paypal.  He forgot.  He felt so badly that this time they paid for both visits and gave me a $10 tip.  Extra gas money, yahoo!

Once again, also, i am thankful i know vacuum cleaners, as theirs has to be regularly taken apart and rescued from all the stuff that gets in it because of the children.  The younger boy loves to help clean, but has no clue that you can't vacuum up pencils and paper clips and everything else that falls to the floor.

Mr. RA gave us all a bit of a scare, someone in his office came down with Covid19.  He got tested and is clear, so i was able to go get the house done on Friday.

We have lots to be thankful for at the shelter, as all of the fall kittens have been adopted out and none of the spring kittens are here yet.  Not every adopted kitten has gone home, but we are thankful to be almost caught up on surgeries so they will all be home soon.  The place is as busy as ever.
