Playing Catch-up, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

This week had several 12+ hour days and the next few will be the same, so let’s catch up on Thankful Day and i will catch up with reading your posts as soon as i can.  Promise!

Last Saturday was beautiful with Coda coming to NOLA with me.  As usual, everyone was thankful for the fun, especially the dogs themselves.

Sunday, i came home and crashed.  It was the kind of nap where you just don’t want to get up.  As we say in our house, the service at Bedside Baptist was wonderful.

On Monday, i gave Ms. PA a pep talk.  She is home, her arm is healing, she is just very discouraged.  She said, “I’ve totally lost control of my house!” and i said, remember, you never had control, G-d does, always has, always will.  She smiled and agreed with me.

In a by-the-way thankful, Carl gives me great stuff for blogging, and yes, he routinely forgets to get everything out of his pants pockets before he does his laundry.  His mom, Ms. V, says he has the cleanest money in town because it gets washed so much.  That lone dollar in the Wordless Wednesday post is neither the first nor the last.

Buster was such a good boy the whole time we were cat-sitting.  He finally got to where he would look forward to my coming and would ask for pets.  His humans were so thankful as they know he’s usually shy around strangers.

Ms. RW surprised me on Tuesday by paying me double!  When i asked why, she said, “You deserve some paid vacation, and if I’d thought about it before, i would have paid you for the week you missed before you left so you could have spent it on your vacation.”

That extra came just as the last bill of the month was coming in, and it got us through.

Mike-Next-Door came on Wednesday and mowed our lawn faster than i’ve ever seen it done before.  Thankfully he had a lull in the rain and it was actually dry enough for him to get it done.

Also on Wednesday, Ms. G had me come to Costco with her to fetch and carry.  While there, she knows i like Brussel’s sprouts so she picked up a bag, although i didn’t know they were for me until i was done cleaning and she handed them to me and said, “This is your tip!”

Sweetie and i got the office and Ms. SE’s house done in almost record time Thursday, so we had time to stop at the bank and deposit the pay.

Unfortunately, i dropped my ID at the bank.  Fortunately, the person who found it turned it in, and they held it for me and called to let me know.

Yesterday our prayer group met at Ms. GA and Mr. BA’s house for the traditional pre-July 4th pancakes.  It was an excellent meeting, and after i was able to let Mr. BA show me what he wants watered while they are out of town.

Between cleanings yesterday, i also went and got my ID, and stopped at the insurance office to sign something they needed. Thankfully i got there before they closed early for the holiday weekend.

There’s extra pay this weekend, as i noted Mr. BA and Ms. GA are going to be out of town, so i cat cat-sitting and plant watering.  We’re always thankful for those extras, even if it means long days.  The granddaughter who is temporarily living with them has been warned that when i walk in before dawn, she doesn’t need to call the police!
