Did We Make a Deal? (Six Sentence Story), Good Fences, Sammy's Poetry Day, and Brian's Thankful Thursday

***********************************

"Did our part of the state make a deal with the devil to keep major hurricanes from hitting us?"

#1 Son walked into the house after the recent storm and posed that question, and i was at a loss for words, so he continued.

"I mean, that storm was heading right for us, it was a dangerous storm and I was telling everybody to get ready, the weather guys were saying 100mph winds which we've never had here and I was really expecting it to be a direct hit, and then at the last minute it turns east and we get nothing but tropical storm stuff, how does that happen?"

No, he doesn't write run-on sentences, but he does talk in them; my response was a much shorter, i don't know why it happened that way, but we were certainly blessed.

"I'll say, 'cause this one really should have hit us and taken this whole place out."

While i can't say why that hurricane turned and mostly spared our area, i can say that beyond prayer i doubt dealings with spirits of any kind had much to do with it.

Gosia at Looking for Identity has taken over Good Fences, and it's now Good Fences Around The World.  Post a picture of a fence or gate, link back to her blog, and go visit other blogs to see what interesting fences there are out in this big world.

This fence was hard to photograph, i had to dodge traffic but i finally got what i could of a unique picket fence.

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day!  This week's image and my poem:

I love to play and I'm really good,

The best player in the neighborhood.

Come on over and I'll show you how,

I have a special secret, the way I hold my brow!

  14. I don't think God would answer a prayer by sending havoc to someone else, I don't think he controls these things (though he could if he wanted). Anyway glad you were spared.

  17. I'm happy to learn you weren't in Ida's destructive path, messymimi...she sure caused a lot of havoc, destruction and distress. Hurricanes, like our cyclones down this way are very frightening.

    Keep taking good care. :)

  18. It seems a matter of luck- good for some and bad for others, as these storms wend their way and choose their path. I’m glad you’re okay.

  19. That's a wonderful fence and the yard looks interesting too. a month before the hurricane, somewhere far away, a butterfly flapped its wings and the resultant current of air arrived near you just in time to turn the hurricane.
