Grandma Gives In (Awww Monday), Inspiring Quote of the Week, and Poetry Monday

***********************************

Awww Monday is hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Join us every Monday for Awww...Mondays.  Post a picture that makes you say Awww... and that's it.

Make sure you get the code from Sandee's site, linked above, and leave a link to your post so we can visit you.  What better way to start the week than with a smile!

Lulu is the picture of patience and a perfect demonstration of the Inspiring Quote as she waits for Grandma to quit fussing at her for begging and hand her a tidbit (which she did soon after i snapped this).

Sparks, the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, is on hiatus, so here's an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey is on a blog break and is sorely missed.   Charlotte/Mother Owl participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too.

This week the theme is Meatloaf Appreciation.

Mom's humble helper meatloaf

Is always on reserve,

Ingredients at the ready,

Always glad to serve.

You can make it fancy

If you have some extras 'round,

But if the pocketbook is flat,

Add more breadcrumbs to meat ground.

We liked it stuffed with onions,

And sometimes even cheese,

But even without the additions,

The meal was sure to please.

When counting favorite meals

The humble loaf shan't be overlooked,

It's easy to assemble,

It's taste gets appetites hooked.

  1. It is indeed simple and delicious. It is way too long since I have made it for the resident meat lover here.

  2. Your humble meatloaf sounds delicious. Time and patience are 2 warriors which many of us do not have.

  3. Oh yes, meatloaf is goo. We're going to have some soon, it's the time of year for it. Your poem is good, compact and stuffed with goodies, just like a meatloaf in fact.

  11. Time & Patience is the key to life. I've learned that after my stroke years ago. You know Mimi, after my stroke at 27 years old, I thought that was it. But now that I'm 72 years, time & patience have given me life that I never thought I'd get. God has given me a life that I thought I'd never have.
    Meatloaf we love to have.

  13. Hmm...I have some celebration options today. Certainly a stop by the bakery for a chocolate cup cake is in order.
On a more somber note, there is more slavery/human trafficking in this world than at any other time in history. Stopping this inhumane practice is an international problem.

  19. My Lulu is so greedy for treats. She will steal from Leo and he is ten times larger than she is. So naughty. That meatloaf sounds wonderful. We made some last week. Wonderful with buttery mashed taters. Have a great week.

  21. I like meatloaf but haven't made it in years. I use seasoned stuffing mix instead of breadcrumbs and have been making the mix into patties instead of a loaf, then I fry them as burgers.
