Quite a Ride, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

Once again i fly into Thankful Day with my mind spinning.  It's been a wonderful week, it always seems to be mostly that way when you spend it looking for good things to list.

Last weekend i had two clients out of town, so on both Saturday and Sunday i had to be at one client's house by 5am and the other by 5:45am so i could get to work on time after.  It all worked out almost to the minute, everyone got fed and watered, the birdseed put out, the boxes scooped, feral cats fed and as a bonus thankful, Angel actually came out and let me see her.

She won't let me get any closer, but at least she no longer stays under the bed when i'm over.

Monday saw Carl back at work, and Ms. PA's caregiver decided she was bored and had the sheets already washed and in the dryer when i got there, two very good things.

Usually Tuesdays are a less time crunched day, at least first thing in the morning.  If i'm going to be able to get to the store and shop, it's generally on Tuesday morning before i go see Ms. RW.  This past Tuesday, i set out early to get to the store and it turned out there'd been a horrible accident on the freeway again, very early in the morning.  The freeway was completely stopped, and so was every other route i could have taken to the store that's on the way to Ms. RW's house.  My thankful is that i know a very circuitous route down by the river that few people use, and that was not crowded so i was able to get to work on time in spite of it all.  (No trip to the store, that had to wait.)

Ms. G is putting another house on the market, so Wednesday we spent the day over there cleaning.  She was also getting rid of everything in the closets that the owners didn't want (complicated story, they're already gone), and there were a couple of very nice dress shirts in there.  She asked if i knew anyone who wears a 17 1/2 neck size, and i sure do, my Sweetie wears that size.  He now has two more dress shirts to go with his one nice suit, and we're both thankful.

Then Thursday morning, while i was doing Ms.V's house, Ms. G called.  Could i come back over to that house?  The handyman had gotten drywall dust everywhere, and all of the floors needed another mopping.

This is where i'm thankful Ms. V and Mr. L were up a bit earlier than usual so i was able to get the sheets off their bed and started early in the wash.  It meant i got out of there in just over 6 hours, then went to see Ms. S for my mid-week visit, and got to Ms. G's client's place by 2pm.  We spent over two hours mopping and sweeping, and got most of the dust out of there, and i'm thankful my back held up!

Thursday is also when Sweetie took Lunceford the Land Yacht in for an oil change, and called me in a panic.  The oil change people told him he had a horrible leak and put in just enough oil for him to get over to Kevin and Lenny's place.  We're glad he made it.

Lenny's diagnosis when he called me Friday was simple.  Yes, Lunceford had a leak.  Yes, it would be expensive to fix.  But it's a slow leak, all we have to do is bring it over there every 2 weeks, they'll check the oil and top off if it's needed.  His recommendation is to just do that and drive it until it decides it won't run any more.  That could be a couple of years, since it's basically sturdy.

We're thankful for that.

Since Lunceford was still in the car hospital Friday morning, it made the day a bit more complex.  Get to Bible study for 6am, once we're done with prayer, run back to the house and get Sweetie, go back to Ms. GA's house, clean the house, go to the thrift store to drop off a bunch of stuff from that empty house Ms. G has been clearing that she didn't have time to bring over, take Sweetie to get Lunceford.

That was the morning.  Afternoon was go to Ms. PA's house for the Ladies' Circle meeting (we do Zoom, and she has no internet or way to do it unless i go over there), then get to the bank, finally go to the store, and on to the cat shelter.

Yes, i'm thankful for a busy Friday that worked out.  The shelter is reopening today, it's been quite a ride.
