Phone Tag (Cajun Joke) and Sunday Selections

Just because Sandee of Comedy Plus is no longer hosting a Silly Sunday blog hop, do not expect me to quit telling Cajun jokes, especially as it has now become a habit.

Grandma and Grandpa both have mobile/cell phones, and both still have the landline phones they’ve had for years.  (Grandpa’s landline has been the same number since 1969.)

When the landlines ring, you can’t tell which it is just by the sound.   If Grandpa is at his desk or sitting on his bed watching TV, he knows when his rings and answers it.  If neither of them can see the phones, they wait to hear the automated voice announce the number or name.  

Names and numbers they recognize make one or the other of them get up and go for the phone.  Names or numbers they don’t know have them trying to wait each other out to see who is going to go check which phone is ringing.  Usually Grandpa can’t stand it, he just has to know, he is afraid to miss an important call.  Grandma just says, “Let him get it, if it’s for me and it’s that important, they’ll leave a message!”

Thibodeaux done come by an’ he ax if’n Boudreaux want to come wit’ him to run de errand.

Boudreaux agree, an’ he get him up from de table an’ be headin’ out de wit’ Thibodeaux when Thib say, “Boudreaux, you done lef’ you cell phone on de table.”

An’ Boudreaux wink at Thibodeaux an’ say, loud ‘nuff for Clothile to hear, “Dat be okay, I be leavin’ it wit’ my answerin’ service.”

Den Clothile say, “You know you be gettin’ you de look, right?”

An’ Boudreaux say, “Mais, I know, but dis time it be worth it!”

My heart sank, thinking it was yet another cat abandoned at our door on a frozen night.  After i donned gloves and went to deal with it, i was relived to find this.
