Mr. Cal's Summer 'Do (Awww Monday), Inspiring Quote of the Week, and Poetry Monday

 ***********************************

Awww Monday is hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Join us every Monday for Awww...Mondays.  Post a picture that makes you say Awww... and that's it.

Make sure you get the code from Sandee's site, linked above, and leave a link to your post so we can visit you.  What better way to start the week than with a smile!

Mr. Cal went for a grooming and he'd fussed so much about being brushed lately, he had some knots that wouldn't come out any other way, so he got a summer buzz cut.

They left his tail poof!

Sparks is the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, who wanted us to post something positive and uplifting at the start of the week.  While she no longer blogs, i like to post an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border Charlotte/Mother Owl participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too.  Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let Diane know!

This week the theme is Hot Air Balloons.

The Balloon Festival was coming to town

once more for the summer,

and while i enjoy seeing them,

the big crowds are a bummer.

We live across from a huge school yard

and if we keep our eyes peeled,

especially in the mornings we see

balloons landing or taking off from the field!

It's not the same as the big festival,

but i think that's okay,

we get to see a few of the balloons

and very close up this way!

  1. I remember the year Angel got shaved for the summer, he'd been running through some grasses and got plenty of seeds caught in his fur and had so many knots I couldn't brush them out.
    Nice poem about the balloons.

  3. I like your balloon poem, and I hope one day to be able to ride one, I have never seen more than one balloon at a time in the skies, so even two or three - and up close! would be a treat.

  6. We were just talking on Friday about how hot a big shaggy dog must have been at an overlook along the Blue Ridge Parkway. I always feel so bad for critters in the summer. I know how horrible it feels to have something to heavy on and can imagine how these poor creature feel. At least Mr. Cal feels cooler for awhile until it grows back out. In the late summer we used to see hot air balloons float across the sky. I haven't seen this in many years and would love to see this again. You won't catch me in one but it sure a pretty sight. :) Have an awwwesome week, my dear!
