A Day Off to See the Dentist, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

 ***********************************

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus

Yesterday i arrived at Carl's to find lights off and we all know what that means -- he has a day off.  This time it was for another dentist appointment.

I knocked on the door to his apartment/room and then opened it, and he said, "I'm not going to work, dentist!"

That's fine, i responded, but you need to go sleep in your chair in the living room so i can clean for you.

Then i suggested he take off his pajamas so i could wash them along with all of his sheets while he slept, and told him he could simply snooze in his bathrobe.

He put the bathrobe on over his pjs and as i picked up clothes and sorted, he asked where his silver pajama top was.

When i asked why he needed it, he said, "I want to sleep with it over my pillow!"  He loves the feel of certain fabrics up against his face when he sleeps, and often covers his pillows with clothing that has the feel he wants.

I told him it was dirty and needed washing, and he was not pleased but acquiesced, leaving to look for a different pillowcase in the hall closet.

Then he came back in with his usual comment, "My teeth are fuzzy!" and grabbed his toothbrush.  When he picked up the dental floss, i reminded him to cut off a piece, use it, and throw it in the garbage, not just leave it attached to the spool, telling him it's too germy and nasty to do that.

He actually did a good job, severing the floss, using it, and then miracle of miracles, it actually went into the trash can.  The trash can that the bag had fallen into and all the garbage was loose in there, and nasty because he'd thrown in a half full cup of something.

Oh, well, at least the mess was contained.

Once he'd done with his teeth, he started running around his room to turn off lights, then stopped to ask, "Do you need these on?"

Yes, i told him, you need to leave them on.

Then he started trying to throw dirty clothes toward the dirty cloths basket with, "I need to clean!"

No, you don't, i said, that's my job now.  You just go rest until it's time to get up for your appointment.

"But, I thought I heard a hanger hit the ground!"

This, when half of the hangers that were not in the closet were all over the floor in various places.

You did, but i've got it was my response, and i finally shooed him off to nap.

Because i knew he was going to come back in before i was done to shower and start breakfast, i altered my routine and had the bathroom clean by that time.  I was able to divert him from taking too many clothes in with him, but he came out with the pants he'd chosen unbuttoned and obviously they were not going to fit any more.

"Shorts?" he said, and as his clean clothes had just come out of the dryer, i handed him a pair and carted the too-small pants off to the give away pile.

Once he was clothed and mostly in his right mind, he set out to get himself some breakfast.  Nothing in the kitchen appealed to him, so he grabbed his wallet and keys and came back with some items more to his liking.

After he was awake, he kept coming back in his room for things, and leaving his usual trail of open cabinets behind him.

He was looking for his antibiotic cream, and found it, so i had to put it away and close the doors.

He was looking for his Beano, and he found it, so i had to put it away and close the doors.

He was looking for his roll-on pain medicine, and found it, so i had to put it away and close the doors.

He was looking for breakfast, and didn't find what he wanted, thus nothing is on the counter for me to put away, just doors to close.

Do we see a pattern?  You can follow where he's been and what he was doing by looking for the open doors and stuff left out, since when he's done with it, he's done.  Why should he put it away or close the door?  He is finished with it, he's not going to go back and do something else with it unless he needs it again.

In honor of a day off to go to the dentist, some funnies.

Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!
