It's been a long day so i'm glad to get to the Thankful Day good stuff.
Last weekend, i actually remembered to take the cleaning products i bought at the MallMart to NOLA with me. Some things you just can't get at the little grocery store where Grandpa likes to shop, or, more accurately, where Grandma wants Grandpa to shop.
While we were there, Grandma went a little nuts with everything she wanted done. The hardest was washing all her blankets, because she spends most of her time in bed. The bed had to be stripped and remade right away with a patchwork of several other, smaller blankets (she gets cold so easily), then everything washed, then those blankets replaced with her regular ones. I'm thankful i got it all done between her calls for me to come bring her other things and Grandpa trying to discourage me from cleaning his room (it makes him cranky).
Once we were on our way home, she called me to turn and go back, she couldn't find the remote for her TV. In all the bed making and remaking, it had been put on her chair next to the bed and she couldn't see it. By the time we got back to the house, she and Grandpa were trying to find it and we did, thankfully.
Sunday was so hot when i got to Becca's we only walked Mr. Cal a short distance. I was thankful we were able to do that.
Sweetie has friends in central Louisiana who were part of the church his father pastored when they lived there, and he has been wanting to go visit. We were thankful our friend loaned him the truck (our cars can't be trusted to make the trip) and he and Brother-In-Law went up there for a few days of visiting and eating and catching up.
I'm thankful for a few days of peace and quiet! As well as that they had a safe trip there and back.
One of the test results at my recent annual visit with Dr. BowTie had him concerned, so he asked me to come in and get the test run again. I'm thankful there's improvement, the numbers are going in the right direction.
I went to the pharmacy to get 2 prescriptions, and when i got one home i did what i always do, read the label description of the pills and then checked to make sure the correct pills were in the bottle. (Sweetie once got a script with the wrong medicine in the bottle, and it was not a good situation, so i always check.)
The contents of one bottle did not, in fact, match the label description, so i was glad i checked and went back over there. Turns out they'd simply used pills from a different manufacturer, which makes the pills a different shape, but it was the same med and they'd forgotten to change the description on their labeling. I'm still thankful i checked and caught it.
Mike-Next-Door no longer lives next door, of course, now he's married and has kids, but his parents are still there and the parents watch the kids while they work so his family is there a lot of the time.
This week the A/C went out in Mike's family's house about a 25 minute drive from here. They came to stay with his parents until the repairs could be made, and they remembered everything for themselves, two small children, and the two cats -- except the litter box.
He cam over and asked if we had a spare so he wouldn't have to drive all the way home to get one. I didn't believe it would be a good idea to give him one our cats had used, as his cats, smelling strange cats' odor on the litter box, might decide to not use it at all. Instead i handed him an old basin i sometimes use to soak my feet.
It worked just fine, the cats were happy with it, and i'm thankful i was able to help out. I'm also thankful i know cats well enough to not share litter boxes, my cats have been sniffing at that old basin with suspicion since it came home, even thought it was thoroughly cleaned.
And also speaking of Mike, he is our lawn guy and designated tree remover (while the trees are still young and small and growing where they shouldn't be). I'm thankful he removed a tree which was going to be a problem if allowed to continue growing.
My work days this week weren't anything out of the ordinary until Friday, and i'm thankful. I'm especially thankful Ms. G was busy elsewhere and had no projects for me so i was able to really get the regular work done and done properly, the way she likes it.
Friday i showed up at the church at 6am as usual to make coffee for Bible study and i knew something was off the moment i walked in. The A/C was out.
We were thankful to have prayer and study anyway and thankful the part to fix it is supposed to show up before Sunday.
Ms. GA and Mr. BA and Granddaughter were all home that morning as Sweetie and i were cleaning, as Ms. GA had taken the day off so she and Mr. BA could go out of town for a day. I'm thankful for the catsitting work (extra pay), thankful we were able to work around them (not always easy when homeowners are home during the cleaning) and thankful Little Buddy the kitten didn't manage to escape in all of the ins and outs and backs and forths.
My cleaning partner for the shelter had told me she'd be out of town this week, so i went early to get started doing both sides of the job. I'm thankful there were two extra volunteers and between us, we got it all done and i was able to help a couple of people who wanted to hold cats. We're all thankful there were a couple of adoptions, too.
Back at my catsitting job, Little Buddy or Obi Buddy or whatever his name is (it should be little mischief) did manage to get out, twice. Both times i managed to catch him on the porch and get him back inside. I'm thankful everything else went well.
Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Dyanne and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

Lots and lots of things to be thankful for in your very busy week. The kitty litter tray struck a chord with me. One of our kittens has taken against ours (with predictable nasty results). We are still trying to work out why.
ReplyDeleteMost cats prefer to have their own, if you have the space I'd suggest buying two new ones and letting them choose which will be their own.
DeleteYou are truly an angel helping everyone ~ and wishing you a relaxing Sunday ~ Xo
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
A ShutterBug Explores,

That was a nice list of thankfuls and it sure seems like quite a busy week.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had an old basin to be used for the cat.
ReplyDeleteWonderful thankfuls. Glad you were able to catch the naughty kitty that snuck out twice.
ReplyDeleteGood TToT*
ReplyDeleteThe medical news is definitely good news, should count for, like, three Grats.
