Our dear friend Diane is taking a break

accommodations we must make

we miss her poetry and wit

so carry on as Poetry Monday's a hit!

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border.  Charlotte/Mother Owl and i are keeping it going while she takes a blog break, we hope temporarily.  Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let us know!

This week the theme is Swan Lake.                       

The ballet company put on

a special version of Swan Lake,

wanting children to enjoy it,

not an hour it would take.

One little girl in the audience

watched the whole with huge eyes,

and at the very final scene she gave

them all a sweet surprise.

At the end the child cried out,

but her sweet voice made no one mad,

"Oh, mommy, the pretty bird is dying

and it makes me so very sad!"

The prima ballerina heard it

and with dignity and grace

danced the dying scene

beatific smile upon her face.
