Polishing off the last bite of the Honeycrisp apple her mom had packed in her lunch, she got a twinkle in her eye and said, "Apple Core!"
"Baltimore!" promptly replied her friend, sitting right next to her, smiling in anticipation and looking around for a likely victim.
"Who's your friend?"
"Larry!" she blurted out, naming the least liked person in the class and the most likely target from where they sat, the back of his head turned and enticingly near enough to not miss.
"Hey!" Larry yelped as the apple core bounced off the back of his head, and turning threateningly he noticed the sly smiles on the two culprits; he quickly smashed the crust of his sandwich into an erstwhile missile and flung it back.
Friends don't snitch on friends and there was no proof as no one else would back up Larry's accusation, so the principal was never quite sure who started that day's cafeteria food fight.

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day! This week's image and my poem:
That's not what i want to see
when i go to the beach!
i'd be somewhere, anywhere else,
and keep out of this water's reach.

Angel Brian's Family of Brian's Home hosts the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. It's time to share something for which i am thankful.
Before sharing today's thankful, a request for prayer goes out for Mr. Terry, the person behind the scenes of Brian's Home, he has had a hiccup in his health and we all want him home and well soon!
Today i am thankful the storms yesterday, which were predicted to be much worse, weren't. There was some damage from wind and water in the whole area, but no major flooding, serious tornadoes or straight line winds, or large hail, which is what they were telling us could happen.

I hope Mr Terry gets better quickly and completely. I loved your six sentence story, agree wholeheartedly with your poem and liked your fences. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that Terry is doing all right. Very scary when they tell you something is wrong with your heart. And he has a big heart or he wouldn't have all his cats. Once again I love your fences and the red barns in the background.
ReplyDeleteThe good news is dogs never have food fights because we want to eat it all, not play with it. We may fight over food, but that would be it. Good story.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog
ReplyDeleteThankful that you are OK and Terry is home. I saw on the news about tornados in your state and came right to your blog to see if all was OK. Cute story and poem. XO
ReplyDeleteWhole 'nother world that would be*
ReplyDeleteExcellent flashback Six
*the reality of childhood.
I used to love a food fight! I totally agree with your poem!
ReplyDeleteJava Bean: "Ayyy, I don't care who started the food fight, I just want to help clean it up!"
ReplyDeleteThat was a really fun story and a fun poem too. Thank you for your kind and caring words during by hiccups with my health, I sure appreciate them and Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteI always thought cafeteria food fights were fictional, only happening in movies. Are they really a real happening? I'm shocked.
ReplyDelete"Apple Core - Baltimore" is a new one to me. I don't even know the Donald Duck/Chip & Dale version of it - it's fun! We had another; when having a dessert containing pits, anyon who had their birthday that day was alloed to catapult their pist via a spoon and try to hit as many people as posible. No retaliation allowed ;)
ReplyDeleteUrgh! typos galore:
Deleteanother = another tradition
anyon = anyone
alloed = allowed
pist = pist
SORRY!
Memoir material, hmm, lol. Fun Six that smacks of a day (sadly) long gone.
ReplyDeleteNo, not exactly a quiet, relaxing day at the beach...
A wonderful thankful. Nothing like dodging tornadoes and hail!
Your six-sentence story made me smile.
ReplyDeleteFun story and great fence photos too ~ hugs,
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Great fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat poem and we totally agree.....apparently a lot of people who live near the water say this is a "normal" thing to see - replenishing the beach sand - but to me it's just not a NICE day at the beach!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam
