Getting Closer, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

It's getting closer to the holidays.  We know that here by two things, Grandma wants to order the holiday meals and the Angels arrive.

I'm very thankful we now order much of the food for holiday meals, the prep is way too much for us now, Grandma can't, i'm working, and there aren't enough of us always able to come on the actual day to need nearly the amount of food we used to.

As for the Angels, it's from The Angel Tree Project.  We get to help an incarcerated parent provide a gift for their child, so the children know they are loved even if they cannot be together.  I chose a hard one this time, an older teen girl.  It's going to be interesting to see what she wants and i'm thankful for the opportunity.

Last Saturday, Ms. G was out of town again, so i did cat duty then had a great visit with Grandma after i finished cleaning the house.  I'm thankful it all got done.

During church Sunday, #2 Son texted asking for a last minute babysitter for 1:30pm, and i was thankful to oblige.

Later Sunday afternoon after i was home, i got a text message from Ms. JAI which showed a message purportedly from Amazon saying someone in India was trying to log into her account, and she responded, not to the message, but to me.

I was thankful she answered the phone as soon as i called and i was able to warn her to delete it and not respond.  She doesn't even have an Amazon account, if she needs something from Amazon i order it for her on my account and i was thankful she now knows if she ever gets a message from any company telling her someone is trying to get in her account, to call me right away and not answer the message.

Monday at work was very difficult, not because of the work but because Mr. L was in so much pain.  It's a long story, but i'm thankful to say he was able to get to a doctor that day and get help.  I'm also thankful i was able to call the church and get him on the prayer list.

I'm very thankful for the right and privilege to vote and thankful i took advantage of it Tuesday.  The polling place is right across the street, so i stopped and voted on the way to the church ladies' meeting and there was no line.

We are probably all thankful it's over, too, and that's all i'm going to say as politics is not something i enjoy discussing when i can't look people in the eye and make sure we know we are friends whether we agree on everything or not.

Our meeting went well, we were all thankful for the fellowship and lesson and food.

When i woke up Wednesday morning, my back was talking to me, and it wasn't saying nice things, so i took a naproxen and i'm thankful i did as Ms. G was her usual, "Here, let's pick up forty pound sacks of sunflower seeds and cases of soda!"

I'm also thankful Ms. G finally has her surgery on her knee scheduled so she was able to get me on her Costco card so she can send me to do the shopping, and i can actually use it to purchase stuff for myself if i want.

Arriving at Ms. V's Thursday, i was so very relieved and thankful to see Mr. L able to sit up at the table, eat a soft breakfast, and read the paper.  His pain levels were finally under control.

Another stint of babysitting Thursday evening was the perfect cap to the day, i'm thankful for any time i spend with my little Annie, and she's a good baby.

Ms. M who helps me at the shelter on Friday nights was out of town this week, and i'm thankful she'd told me ahead and we had extra volunteers so managed to get everything done while people came in and out and looked at kittens and cats and there was an adoption and a pre-adoption.
