"Does anyone else ever pay you by check?"
Ms. G was asking me this as she stood by the chair in "the office" with one of those extension grabbers. This room has a desk she never uses and is packed with stuff she "needs to get to" but doesn't have time to deal with.
She was using the grabber to reach over stuff to where the package of checks ended up, as she needed to write me one for the work i'd done and she couldn't reach it any other way.
Yes, i told her, several of my clients do actually write me a check each week or every other week; what i did not add was that none of the others tell me i'm not allowed to use the remote deposit option, she insists her have to be taken to the bank to be deposited or cashed.
What she or any of the other check writers are going to do if banks ever do away with paper checks is a question i'm not going to ponder right now, although i figure it's inevitable, like the end of pennies.
Linking up with Denise at Girlie On The Edge Blog, where she hosts Six Sentence Stories, and the cue is Check.

While Good Fences Around the World seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird, i still enjoy looking for and posting interesting fences, so i will! It's a Mardi Gras fence.

I love your poem for today!
ReplyDeletewe love the poem... it brings some hope and good mood
ReplyDeleteGood picture and good poem. I'm really not all that internet savvy, but if I were you and got checks and could use the easy way to deposit them I certainly would. A trip into a bank is never any fun. I like the fence with all the colorful ribbons on it and that smiling yellow mask on the wall behind.
ReplyDeleteThe only problem I have with digital payment is when the middleman wants a monthly fee to process your payment- that is the only check I still write.
ReplyDeleteLoved the poem.....and it's very true.....we are what we FEEL we are and we see what we WANT to see.....!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam and Teddy
Love the image and poem.
ReplyDeleteHere in Australia cheques (checks) began phasing out about three years ago, there aren't many left who still use them. People get paid by direct deposit to their bank accounts, or by cash which is even more rare than cheques.
Mom has all her client invoices paid electronically but now and then someone needs to write a check and it is a major pain in the behind. Checks should just disappear with pennies. Mom moved back from Germany in 2007 and checks had been gone for several years over there already. Everything is done electronically. Getting checks with USPS is even worse as it can take days or weeks for them to arrive as they are so unreliable.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely poem!
ReplyDeleteHmm, cheques (checks). Long gone from SA.
Lovely poetry ~ good to hear there is a plan for Slo Mo ~ hope you can deposit Ms G's check electronically soon ~ so convenient ~ hugs
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear some people still accept checks! I can recall when we'd rush out to bank to get refills when our checks were running low. Now, the checkbook sits full and dusty. Everything is "cards" these days...and most times we never even have cash on us anymore. Not sure how I feel about it--I sort of miss the old days. Oh, and that image and your beautiful poem really hits my feels lately! That's pretty much my image in the mirror now...and I'm left wondering where and how did time fly by so quickly?!
ReplyDeleteagree about the inevitability of the cashless/written down financial environment
ReplyDelete(but then again, how long until most of the population would not be able to actually fill in the information for a check?)
can I get an 'Aiiyeee'
lol
Thanks for these poems.
ReplyDeleteChecks ... while they still exist I have not used one for over 30 years. All money here is either via phone (MobilePay), bank transfer (via computer or phone - do-it-yourself) or very seldom cash. Denmark is very digital, and now and then there's talk of abolishing cash - with a lot of people (me among them) loudly protesting.
Big fence and gate.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
We also need to think about what will happen when physical banks no longer exist.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that some tell you that you have to go to the bank. Nice poem and a good thankful too. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteThat is a pain to have to go to the bank. Some stores like Target don't even take checks anymore. Beautiful poetry. XO
ReplyDeleteNice poem. I can easily see them eventually doing away with checks.
ReplyDeleteA great poem with a beautiful sentiment
ReplyDeleteI can't remember the last time I wrote or received a cheque/check, and I have no idea where my old cheque book is! Love the picture and poems.
ReplyDeleteLove the poem, it's very true💗Extra Pawkisses for you🐾😽💞
