It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.
My first peek into the laundry room at Carl's yesterday was not propitious.
It wasn't really too bad, although the one item in the dryer was still wet and now didn't smell fresh, to put it mildly. Ms. V had gotten some of the cleaning rags and such out of the wash and hung them to dry, then put the rest in the dryer and forgot them.
Carl found them, and then i found them all over everywhere, the laundry room and his room.
They got rewashed with his bath towels, some of which are missing now, and put away. As for the missing towels, my best guess is Carl's car, which i did not get the chance to inspect.
If they are still AWOL next Monday, a car rescue operation will commence.
Meanwhile, Carl was quite garrulous for the little bit of time we were in the same room.
"I can't find John's post," he told me. Before i could ask anything, he said, "It was about the end times." This time my silence was deliberate and he added, "Trying to explain."
I told him i hoped he could find it again. What i did not tell him was that i wasn't about to get into a discussion of eschatology that early in the morning, and most certainly not while trying to get him out the door.
He moved on to, "I put my money in the bank and next thing I know it disappeared."
Could you be spending it? i asked.
"Lunches. And gas."
That's why you are supposed to bring your lunches, it will save you money, and by the way, you did a great job making sandwiches ahead this week, i told him.
He did do a great job. I managed to put a sandwich, cheese stick, grapes, fruit cup, tea, water, snack bar and a cookie in his lunch box, and he still asked if he had enough of a snack. He was only working until 11am.
Along with those sandwiches, i found this.
He had an open pack of crackers in the fridge, and another open pack on top of the fridge along with a half-eaten sweet roll in a bag. He's a mixed bag himself, that one.
"Do you think I could get a new job that uses my adaptive skills?" he answered, and i told him honestly he would need to start seriously looking into that. "I need to talk to the supervisor..."
He never did tell me which supervisor, but i'm sure he has someone in mind. Heaven help them. And Carl.
"I need to get pants and tongs today. And gloves. I don't know where the gloves go..."
He leaves them at work where they find new homes, that's where. His parents won't buy him a new coat, he has to go to the thrift store for his coats, he loses them so frequently. They will buy him pants and shirts, since, as Ms. V says, he doesn't lose those. Thank heaven.
Carl headed out the door with his portable CD player, then came back in and said, "Batteries would be nice..."
I told him if he'd asked earlier, he'd have had enough time for me to go hunt them up in the office and he said, "Well I put them somewhere..."
Story of that man's life, right?
Next thing i knew he was picking up cracker crumbs from the floor. Again, i told him not to bother, once i show up it's my job, and i told him to boogie on down the road.
He boogied, but only after he came back in to look for a coupon book, then to brush his teeth again, and finally to tell me he saw a moth fly in the door when he opened it. I promised to deal with the moth and he finally left.
Once he was gone, i did the usual cleaning and laundry and dealt with his coin sorter.
He's supposed to put all of his coins in there, but this is one reason it can be difficult when he does. He empties everything in the pocket, along with the coins, into the sorter. This time it was a Tums antacid tablet and it didn't want to come out until i'd about taken the machine apart.
At the same time, i found this.
He won an award at work. It was on top of the fridge, under the half-eaten sweet roll. I put it on the shelf with his 15 Year Employee certificate.
It's Trick or Treat Night, so how about some Halloween funnies.
Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!
