Mimi always kept a fresh coffee cake in the back, the kind you needed when you were a bit nervous and flustered and just did not know what to do with yourself.
Although when she wanted something calming or soothing, she would choose peppermint tea, she believed coffee cake should always go with coffee. She kept a very fine water process decaffeinated version and her favorite French press pot to make a good enough decaf to go with the cake. It would even stand up to heated milk for cafe au lait.
She went to the back and made some and brought the cake and cup of coffee back for Aurelia, stopping to notice as she approached how Hūnga had accepted the young lady as she was talking to The Gatekeeper and The Bartender.
"This will help," she said simply, "while you talk to the Bartender, and trust me, whatever happened, it won't be held against you."

ReplyDeleteI am glad to see that you and Hūnga have already accepted Aurelia. I'm sure the Bartender and Gatekeeper will as well.
ReplyDeleteInteresting visit to the SSC&B. Any of that cake left over?

ReplyDeletePetonets, Mimi.
Dogs are often the first to know. While Aurelia may not realize it, she is among friends. Mimi will be a calming influence on the Nervous Poet, just as she is for everyone else. Coffee cake and coffee is a good start.
