It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.
Bigger Girl is back from Amsterdam. She had not been back in the country 24 hours before she brought the usual chaos and mayhem with her. "Mom, a pedestrian who was looking at his phone stepped out in front of me, and I had to swerve to avoid him, and I hit a curb, and now I have a flat tire, and #1 Son has to go to work, and what do I do? I mean, I know how to change a tire, but I'm tired and they changed the lock on my apartment while I was out of the country and I don't have my new key yet and my roommates aren't there to let me in, and my phone is almost dead, and what do I do?"
What we do, of course, is #1 Son takes an Uber to work, and i leave church to go help her change a tire. By the time i got there, a very nice young man who lives in the complex had come to the rescue, which is a good thing. Even though she and i both know how to change a tire, if the lugs have been put on by machine, i am not strong enough to get them off. He was able to do so.
As he and i talked a bit, i told him i had left church to come help her with the tire, and i really appreciated what he was doing. He looked at me slyly and joked, "I know why you came. You left church so you wouldn't have to pay that tithe!" We both laughed and i told him that i had actually dropped my envelope into the basket before i left, just in case.
He was a very nice young man.
Ms. JAI has been calling me to try to change her schedule, then change it back, over and over. If her family could decide whether they are coming for Labor Day or not, it would make my life go more smoothly. Hers, too.
Dr. Dee has mostly left off researching legal things for now and is in full on "let's get my kitchen organized" mode. We have now learned her oven was not installed correctly but we found all the shelves to put up in the cabinets. Progress is being made.
Now if only i could convince her to get rid of the items she never uses instead of saving them for "just in case."
One thing i did convince her to do was let me unpack one of the two brand new in the box toaster ovens she had and put it on the counter in place of the old one that was too small and that wasn't meeting her needs. This new one doesn't just toast, it keeps warm, bakes, is a convection oven, and has a rotisserie feature.
