Co-op day this week was odd.
Because we are back to Sweetie having to get rides while #1 Son uses his car, it began with The Mouth coming in and insisting on breakfast. He got cereal, which didn't make him too happy, but it was all i could do at the time.
Then it was time to get Little Girl up, hand stuff on the line, and head out, stopping at the store for ingredients before getting there.
Each class was to cook something different today. The second class co-teacher had a recipe for that class to use, and was to bring the ingredients. The first class, i worked out the recipe and ingredients. Then, after learning the recipe from the other teacher, next week we will flip-flop the recipes.
So the first class got to make quesadillas. They sauted onions, grated the cheese, and got to choose to make bean and cheese or just bean, or, in the case of Bernie, just cheese. We had a couple of problems with flipping them, especially Bernie. Still, it all worked out and they had fun cooking and eating, so that was good.
The second class made a home baked mac and cheese, and that recipe will have to wait for next week, after my co-teacher emails me the measurements and i've cooked it myself with the class.

I remember the Beatles appearance. Thanks for the memory. We watched it at a neighbour's place. Their TV blew out shortly thereafter. Coincidence?
ReplyDeleteLeah, you never know. They've been blamed for everything else under the sun.
ReplyDeleteMimi, it sounds relatively peaceful there, if rather busy. Your cooking class sounds as though it would be fun to take! It's too bad that your format does not lend itself to learning about the crockpot, because slow-cookers are the greatest thing ever. However, anything you can teach them beyond using the microwave is valuable!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jokamo. What i try to teach them is to cook by "feel", to know what goes together and what doesn't, so they can go home and cook for themselves.
