This past Tuesday, at co-op, my being "height challenged" was brought up again by a few of the younger kids.
Yes, it's true. As a person who quit growing at age 12, i'm the first grown-up most kids pass on the way to fully grown. They love it, and i celebrate with them, laughing all the way.
A day or so later, when working on the pantry reorganization -- which by the way is feeling like it will take forever -- i noticed an advantage to being my height.
It's just this: i don't have to see what's on top of the fridge and the top shelves. How does dust get that thick, anyway?
In honor of National Humor Month:
What do you get when you cross a stream and a brook?
Wet feet!
Boudreaux is out in the bayou fishing and along comes a tourist, also fishing. The tourist notices that Boudreaux is in his pirogue shining a flashlight on the water and holding a net, so he rows over and politely asks, "What are you doing, sir?"
"Mais, I's fishin'," Boudreaux, equally polite, answers.
"What do you mean?" asks the tourist.
"Oh, don' you see? I shine the light on the water, and the fish comes up to see what dat is on de top of de water, and I use the net to scoop him up!"
"Ah, I understand," answers the tourist. Then he says, "Say, I really don't want to have to go back to town to get a flashlight, would you consider selling me yours?"
"Well, that depends on the price," says Boudreaux. "Afta' all, if I do then I can't fish any more today until I go get another one."
After a bit of dickering, they settle on a price of $30 for the flashlight. After the exchange is concluded, the tourist asks, "By the way, how many have you caught?"
Boudreaux says, "Countin' you? Six this week!"

Snailpaper... That leaves an interesting image for me...
ReplyDeleteOk, that made me thing of a "Bubba" joke.
The Sheriff walks down to the river, and sees Bubba just heading out in his boat. Sheriff calls out, "What you up to, Bubba?"
"Fishin'."
Now, the Sheriff was off duty, and asked if Bubba would mind some company. Bubba said come on, and off they went to the middle of the lake.
Sheriff notices there are no poles in the boat.
Then he notices Bubba pulling out 2 sticks of dynamite. He lights them, hands one to the Sheriff, the other he tosses in the lake.
"Bubba, what in the blue hell you doin'?"
Calmly, Bubba answers,"I'm fishin'. You want to fish, or talk?"

Ha.. good thinking. I, unfortunately see all the dust and clutter on mine. That doesn't mean I rush to clean it though. ;)
ReplyDeleteHilary, we don't rush to clean, either.
