Me, A to Z

As i threatened when i got bored writing about our ISP woes, i am "stealing" and idea from Suldog, who got it from Jenn Flynn-Shon, who got it from somewhere else, as that's how these things are supposed to go, i guess.

Age - 49.  Yes, i know, they all say that, but i was born in the summer of '63, you do the math.

Bed Size - King.  Sweetie is 6'2" and (mumblety-mumblety) pounds, and takes up a big chunk of bed, so he won't sleep in anything smaller if he has to share.

Chore You Hate - Ironing; in fact, i claim to be allergic.

Dogs -- Nope.  Cats, by the hung bushel.  Don't get me wrong, dogs are great critters, and i very much enjoyed having one for a while, but they require constant training and vigilance.  Rather like a two-year-old child, but which never grows up.

Essential Start to My Day - Coffee.  This is south Louisiana, it's a religion.  It needs to be black as the swamp mud and hot as the bayou in July.  Chicory optional, but a nice touch.

Favorite Color - Purple, in any shade but puce. (To me, that should be spelled "puke".)

Gold or Silver - Silver, it goes better with purple.  Gold, though, in coinage is fine.

House or Apartment - House, unfortunately.  We were lied to and sold a house that is fundamentally unsalvagable and will lose everything we've put in to keep it habitable.  Many times over the years i've wished we were renters and the broken everything were someone else's headache.

Instruments Played - Kazoo.  Actually, i used to noodle around on the piano when the kids were taking lessons, as i had to do their lessons with them.  So i did learn to play a little.

Job Title - Janitor.  Chief Cook and Bottle Washer.  Toilet Unstopper.  If it has to do with the house, it's probably in my title.

Kids - Four.  Known online as #1 Son, Bigger Girl, #2 Son, and Little Girl.  Mostly because i used to love how Charlie Chan called his eldest boy #1 Son, and i like how one of the alien creatures in Lilo and Stitch referred to the two girls as Bigger Girl and Little Girl.

#1 Son is 21 years old, and living in Kansas to be near his fiancee.  Bigger Girl will be 20 in March, and is at community college.  #2 Son will be 17 in March, and wants to go to culinary arts school next year.  Little Girl is almost 15, and wants to be a tattoo artist.

Live - In the swamps of south Louisiana, where everything is hot.

Married - Yes, as if it weren't obvious from the way i've answered some of the other questions.  It will be 28 years this summer.

Never Again - Please, G-d giving me grace, i will never again let myself be talked into anything that even remotely resembles multi-level marketing.

Other Fun Fact - As a leftover from my days as a Bible Club leader, i can still recite all the Books of the Bible, in the order in which they appear in the King James Version, in under 30 seconds.

Pet Peeve - Insane traffic.  Although i'm a teetotaller, if anything will ever drive me to become a drinking woman, it will be traffic.

Quote - "Trying to clean the house while the kids are young is like shoveling the walk while it's still snowing." Phyllis Diller

Righty or Lefty - Righty, married to a lefty and with four lefty children.  Gads.

Siblings - Two, brothers, both younger.  One divorced and raising two kids, the other never married and still considering becoming a priest.

Time You Wake Up - Between four and five am.  Yes, i am a morning lark, married to a night owl, and with four night owl children.  Again, gads.

University Attended - Yes, i attended and graduated.  Since i'm not doing anything much with the degree, i'd rather not crow about where.

Veggies You Dislike - Mushrooms.  They are a fungus, not a food.

What Makes You Run Late - When the kids were little, a badly timed messy diaper.  Now that they are teens, a badly timed loss of shoes, books, coats, etc.

Also bad traffic.  Around here, you can leave early and still arrive late, because one accident on the interstate shuts down most of the city.

x-Rays - Too many, and i don't want any more, thank you.  Nor do i want more MRIs or CAT scans, either.

Yum Food - Ezekiel bread with chopped raw Brussels sprouts and drizzled with EVOO.  Frozen bananas blended with coconut butter and cacao nibs.  Raw cashew nut butter.

     Yes, i'm weird.

Zoo Animal Favorite - Fruit bats.  We have a bat house at our zoo, and i usually spend at least an hour just observing them.  Bats are some of the most awe inspiring and amazing creatures there are.

  2. Carla, one lady gave the trick to staying married. When she first wed, she said she was going to make a list of the ten things about her husband that bothered her the most. Then when he did one of those things, she would ignore it.

She was asked what she put on the list, but she admitted she never wrote it down. All she did was, whenever he did something like that, was say to herself, "it's a good thing for him that's on the list!" even though she had never put it in writing.

She told that story at their 50th anniversary.

  3. You are going to laugh. I was wracking my brain trying to figure out what EVOO is. And no, it doesn't sound weird, now that I register Olive Oil, rather than some brand name something... Except. Now I'm hungry.
