File this under...

...one of three things:
 Weird things cats do, or
Why you should make your cat an indoor only cat, or
Why your cat needs a microchip.

It is probably not all that unusual for South Wood Humane Society workers to go in to work on a Tuesday morning and find an animal abandoned on their doorstep.

It is unusual, though, for the animal to be in a brand new carrier.

It's even more unusual to eventually track down the cat's owner in Tuscon, Arizona, 1800 miles away from the Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, area.

Ace had been reported missing months earlier, and no one, except perhaps the person who dropped him at the Humane Society, knows how he ended up that far from home.

Well, Ace knows, but he's not telling.

Southwest Airlines is flying him home free, with an escort, good for them.  And Ace's owner says he's grounded after that.

  2. great story with a happy ending! Our Lucy is an indoor only cat plus she has a chip. She came to our house 2 1/2 years ago- 8 months old, scared and in heat. She was a bit feral-so who knows how long she had been "lost". We could not find where she came from so took her in and she's a wonderful cat. Turns out she is a Korat-a very interesting breed of cat. Cheers!

  5. We had a crazy cat incident in our town recently where a cat bound for San Francisco busted out of his carrier at the airport and ended up living in the woods near the airport for a few months. He made it home, too. These cats have stories to tell.

Cubicle day? LOL. As a cube-dweller, I'm just thankful I have a window.

  6. Tabor, feel free to write the story, if you want.

Kathe, i'm amazed that someone let such a rare and valuable cat become a half feral, and glad she landed with you.

Hilary, i agree, but i'd love it more if we could know!

Stephen, we would, or at least, i would buy it.

Shell, i'm glad that cat got home, that must have been awful for cat and owner. And i don't know why someone started that day.
