Of a Saturday

It's the weekend, and yes, i'm disguising myself as Captain Obvious right now.

Friday was beyond busy, with two houses to clean, cat shelter work, Red-headed Alec needing to be taken to a job interview, the A/C repair people coming, and a few other things but i can't remember them all right now.

The A/C is cleaned and maintained, but not repaired.  Somehow i think this is going to be a long, protracted battle with the home warranty company.  They will be called tomorrow and a service request made.  Because we had the required maintenance, i hope they will cover whatever it is that is causing the crazy thing to continue to leak.  If not, see the above sentence about a long, protracted battle.  They will be fought.

As long as we keep bailing the thing out it should keep working, and the mornings are getting a bit, shall we say, less hot.  It's not cool yet, but it is less hot, so the need for the unit will decline.  That will only help the situation.

Red-headed Alec has most likely gotten the job.  They have to go through the red tape -- drug test, background check, etc.  It is at a place that is close enough to here that he can walk if he needs to, which will be a help.

Bigger Girl is doing well in calculus this semester.  As usual for her, she is learning it by tutoring the other students in the class.  Something about teaching others cements things in her mind.

Brother-in-Law, The Mouth, will be coming for dinner tonight as he usually does on Saturday.  There will be tomato gravy over rice and crusty French bread, a regular "we are at the end of both the month and the money" meal, and one he likes.

There's really not much else except that today i have to go to one of my Friday houses to scoop the litter boxes.  She went out of town yesterday and won't be back until late today, and they married for better or for worse but not for cat litter, so i'm heading over there to make sure she doesn't come home to a big mess.

Enjoy your Saturday, everyone!

  1. Busy Friday for you too. I don't think we have had our AC unit on for just over a week now. The days are staying just cool enough, although you still don't need a coat once the sun is up. Nights are heavenly right now. I heard the coyotes last night through the open window. So did the cat - that might be why he keeps wanting to sleep beside me.

  2. Oh I can see the fight coming over that air conditioner. Do you have the lease or rental agreement? I'm sure you do. Good luck.

Sounds like a very busy day. I hope today is far better.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ☺

  3. your 'end of month and money' meal sounds delicious. sounds like a louisiana version of one my mother used to make in wisconsin. boiled potatoes from the garden with 'burnt gravy' with hotdogs ladeled over it. (burnt gravy is made by scorching down bacon fat in a cast iron skillet, then adding water and flour to make a gravy). we at it a lot as a poor family - and i loved it.

  4. I hate warranties! They sell you on how it might cost a fortune if something goes wrong, and then when something does go wrong they fight tooth and nail to not pay. If they do, I sense they are up against the wrong person. Hope all works out well.

Now I need a nap, your post has me exhausted.

  5. Sorry your A/C is still a problem. I am impressed your daughter is doing well in Calculus, I like Algebra and Math, but not Calculus.
