Sparks, the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, is on hiatus, so here's an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border. Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey is on a blog break and is sorely missed. Charlotte/Mother Owl always participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in some weeks, too. Spike's Best Mate often leaves a wonderful poem in the comments on one of our blogs.
This week the theme is Favorite Words That Start With the Letter D.
D's a delightful letter
It has a certain ring
Without it there'd be something missing
In the fun word "ding-a-ling"!
We wouldn't have "dynamic,"
"Delicious", "doctor," or "dime,"
Couldn't call someone "darling,"
Floor and door would no longer rhyme.
The best word we have with D though
Isn't "donut" or "dance" or "dinner,"
Though i love "dragon," "dog," and "dandy,"
It's "daddy" that's the winner!

I'm sorry I'm a day late with this week's poem: I've been having trouble accessing Diane's Comments facility, so I hope you don't mind my posting it here, Mimi. Here it is (hopefully!):
ReplyDeleteDawn Chorus and Daybreaks
That herald new morns
Dandelions and daisies
Embroidering lawns
Drumming and Dancing
Make my feet start to twitch
Dearest and Darling
Bring a smile to my lips
Dewdrops like Diamonds
See how they shine!
Doughnuts and Dumplings
Food favourites of mine
Daft Dogs and dogs’ names beginning with D -
Dexter! Diesel! Delilah! Dundee!
Of course I have saved the best until last -
The man who made and helped shape who I’d be
He watched me grow up, for him far too fast -
My dear old Dad with a capital D!
Beautifully done, SBM! Interesting, isn't it that all of us went to the topic of 'Dad"!
