Long Play (Cajun Joke) and Sunday Selections

***********************************

Just because Sandee of Comedy Plus is no longer hosting a Silly Sunday blog hop, do not expect me to quit telling Cajun jokes, especially as it has now become a habit.

Grandma and Grandpa have a TV with one of those set-ups that tells you who is on the phone when it rings.  This is to save you from having to get up and interrupt your TV viewing to answer the phone if it's a name or number you don't recognize.   (Yes, we're talking landlines here, Grandpa has had the same phone number since 1969.)

It happened to be Mr. Ned, and Grandma, watching her favorite TV vet Dr. Pol, heard the ring and saw the name come up and said, "Oh, it's his favorite person!" and she laughed.

Mr. Ned is one of those who will talk your ear off, and Grandpa can never get him off the phone in under 30 minutes, even if he's just calling to confirm when he'll be by the next week to work on something around the house.

Boudreaux done come run in de house an' tell Clothile, "You gots to he'p me hide!"

"What you be done did now?" she ax.

"I din't do nothin'," he say.  "Albin be comin'!"

"I done thought Albin be you frien'," Clothile say.

"He be my frien', but I don' gots time to talk to him now, I be on de way to go fish wit' Thibodeaux, an' if Albin done fin' me an' start talkin', I's gonna be late."

"I know he talk a bit, but it don' be dat bad," Clothile say.

An' Boudreaux say, "Mais, it be dat bad!  Dat Albin done be vaccinate wit' de phonograph needle when he be born!"

Sunday Selections was started as a way for bloggers to use photos that might otherwise just languish in their files.  The rules have been relaxed, and it is now simply a showcase for your photos, new or old, good or bad, although nothing rude, please.  It was hosted by River, who still participates, and is now hosted by Elephant's Child (who is on a short blog break because of her health -- prayers and good thoughts are welcome).

These are Selections from the past few weeks that i set aside until after Carnival.

  3. phonograph needle, I'm still laughing. I remember when I was young my dad bought a new TV and it did have one of those TV's when it would ring as a phone and I could talk to the person while I was watching the TV. It was weird. You'd be watching a program and all of a sudden it would ring and a friend would be talking to me while I was watching Daniel Boone.

  7. Funny story. We had a neighbor here and he was like that, except he liked to visit in person. Everyone said he'd do anything for you...except go home! Love the photos!

  9. Catcat does enjoy the outdoor. There are many jokes about our focus on our phones instead of focusing on the person in front. Lovely photo selection and stunning skies.

  10. The best of everything is found here. Still chuckling over the phonograph needle! hahaha Beautiful sky shots. Yes the phone is like a demi god to so many. when Harrison James was two he said, put down your phone and look at me. I have seen that time, when watching little ones. They are so much more entertaining anyway. :-)
