Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts to encourage us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.    

This month, the prompts are being provided by WiseWebWoman and Elephant's Child is posting them on her blog.     \

Years before, she'd heard a decorator state emphatically that WHITE paint is what people or PAINTERs used when they had no creative ideas for other choices.

Looking at the lighthouse, she had to say those were the exception.  Standing out against the deep blue sky, she was glad it was just the way it was.

The local icon, maintained by the historical society, was both a museum and a meeting place for community.  They dubbed it The CONFERENCE Center when they were using it for the monthly historical society meetings, or other group meetings.

The NEIGHBOUR she met had told her this when giving her a COURTESY call welcoming her as she moved into the area.  The woman had said it with her tongue planted firmly in her cheek.  It seemed the citizens had a HEALTHY respect for their history and at least some of them had a good sense of humor.  

She knew there would be a few of the other type, the Mr. or Mrs. Barney Fife type, as you can't get away from them anywhere.  The place had enough going for it to be worth finding and then mostly avoiding them.

The small town people had no AMBITION to turn themselves into a tourist destination with the attendant TRAFFIC problems and worse.  Some might DISAGREE, she didn't.  When she was looking for a suburb from which to telecommute, the RECOMMENDATION of this place had been solid.

As she took her daily exercise walk on the trail around the lighthouse, she knew she was right.
