It seems some weeks you get to Thankful Day just in time as it's been a full week.
Not as crazy as others, but full, nonetheless.
Last Saturday i arrived at Grandma and Grandpa's house just in time to be told not to walk in some places as there was grout being put between the tiles there and you can't walk on them until it is set. I'm thankful the work is coming along and seems to be going well.
When Grandpa and i went to the store, one item on my list was a special type of guacamole seasoning and as i looked on the shelf, it was the only empty slot on an otherwise full shelf.
I'm thankful i followed The Good Lord's nudge and reached back behind the not very neatly shelved garlic salt for a bottle i could not even see and pulled out the very last bottle of guac seasoning in the store.
Becca, Mr. Cal and i were thankful for one last extra long walk before the last of our summer schedule Sunday services. Next week, we are back to needing to leave a bit earlier for an earlier service time.
I was thankful for a lovely Sunday evening with our little Annie.
Ms. JAI cancelled again for Monday so i was thankful to be home when #2 Son and Daughter-in-Law rushed over with Annie to consult with me. She had started choking on, of all things, a bite of mashed potatoes with gravy, and when she couldn't cough it up easily, was crying and almost convulsing and scared her parent half out of their minds.
I was thankful to be able to tell them she was just fine, which by this point the crying had mostly stopped and she even smiled and reached out for me to hold her. Soft foods can get stuck and take a bit more time to finish going down than the firmer items, and she'd simply gotten scared and then they'd been scared and it just spiraled a bit. No one was any worse for it all.
Then i got to babysit on Tuesday and make a few phone calls as i did so. I was thankful to find out my doctor had already called in refills for the meds. The insurance company had sent me a card for the car we cancelled, and i was thankful one phone call confirmed it had simply crossed in the mail, the policy was canceled and they had not canceled one of our other cars by mistake.
I was thankful also to confirm yes, in spite of what the insurance company said, our mortgage company did pay the flood insurance premium on time. Thankfully, Ms. M at the insurance company helped me get the flood insurance agent switched to her office instead of the other office, the other one makes mistakes left, right and center and Ms. M's office is much better.
Then there's the fact our little Annie is doing so well.
We're thankful even while cautious.
I'm thankful i took the time to go visit Ms. JAI, since i didn't see her on Monday. We had a lovely catch up chat.
Ms. G had a very important doctor appointment Wednesday, so she and i had the shortest workday we've ever had. I'm thankful it meant i could go home and rest, it doesn't happen often.
I'm also thankful i got the pharmacy to agree to hold the prescriptions until Friday when i could go get them.
Thursday my Sweetie and i pulled a double cleaning, i was thankful i climbed two ladders at two client homes and it all went well. We were also thankful we got both jobs done in 7 hours total, excellent time considering the amount of work.
Thursday was also the day #2 Son, Daughter-in-Law and our little Annie went off on a week's adventure, a visit with the part of her family who've never seen our sweet little girl in person yet, in Alaska. We're thankful they arrived safely.
I was thankful for an errand day Friday after prayer group, including getting those prescriptions right on time (i'd taken the last pill the day before).
The shelter was busy Friday evening, i was thankful for several adoptions including one lady whom i was able to talk into taking the two kitten sisters when she'd come expecting to only get one cat. Ruth and Naomi will go home on Tuesday after their surgery.
Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Clark and his co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

ReplyDeleteGod bless, Mimi.
I am sure that at every incident that Annie will have as a young child, her parents will have a mild panic. I have to laugh about the mashed potatoes only because if I eat my own too quickly they get stuck in my throat also. You did have a busy week and it was nice to hear you had a breather now and then. Hope you have a wonderful weekend
ReplyDeleteHi ha setmanes que tot funciona a la perfecció i n'hi ha que frises de que s'acabin. ;-)
ReplyDeleteEstic contenta que l'Annie estigui bé i que quedés només com un ensurt.
Petonets!
Wow, that sure was a jampacked week for you. We are so glad Annie was OK. New parents do panic and it is good you were there to help. Our Mom sometimes has a hard time getting rice, of all things, to go down properly. We bet the best part of your week was your time with Annie.
