Grandma is sometimes right on it with her comments or conversations, and other times, she simply isn't and seems to get lost in her thoughts. When this happens, we are gentle with her and let her lead with whatever she wants to talk about.

Sunday Selections was started as a way for bloggers to use photos that might otherwise just languish in their files. The rules have been relaxed, and it is now simply a showcase for your photos, new or old, good or bad, although nothing rude, please. Our friend River is hosting, and other participants often include Charlotte/Mother Owl, Andrew, and WiseWebWoman.
I tried, with not as much success as i'd hoped, to get pictures of nice front porches and other outdoor areas by people's houses where they have seats. It always reminds me of the days when people used to sit on the front porch often in the evening and greet those who walked by. Then, some of Ms. A's flowers and some sunset photos.

This week, Abby wants to join the Kitties Blue at The Cat On My Head for their Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. She was visiting at Grandma and Grandpa's house and it only seemed right to let her star in today's selfie, although she does crowd the camera a bit to get to that treat she knows is coming.

Happy Sunday Selfies, Abby! A porch is a fine think if you have the weather to enjoy the shade and cool away from the heat of the day. And where nicer to enjoy the world pass by, with a tall drink in hand and maybe a slice of cake or a biscuit or three.

ReplyDeleteSuch exquisite sunsets! I think the idea of people sitting on their front porches and greeting passers-by has a lot to do with the kind of sense of community that, alas, seems no longer to exist.

ReplyDeleteI remember when almost all houses had porches to sit and think, front and back, some even wrapped around the whole house so there was always a shady side. Modern houses might have a tiny one square metre of porch for people to stand on while they ring your doorbell, which to me is entirely unsatisfactory. The roses and sunsets are lovely as is Abby.
