Well, here it is Thankful Day and the only real emergencies going on involve a sick client and a phone that needs to be replaced.
On Tuesday, i went to help Ms. S. She was weak, and did not even want to get out of bed, and i am so thankful she let me come. Usually when she’s like that, she doesn’t want to have anyone over.
Her daughter-in-law had bought her some baskets and i am thankful i was able to reorganize her bathroom counter space so now i can clean it.
By Friday she was in the hospital for pneumonia. Her son and daughter-in-law are bringing her home today, and i am thankful i can go over there this evening after Grandma’s house and check in on her.
As for the phone, Bigger Girl’s phone went kaput a while back, so i bought her a new one from Best Buy. Now our phone carrier says, even though that phone was purchased specifically to be compatible with them, that they will not support it much longer. Thankfully, she and i had talked about her switching carriers before she left, so that is already in the works.
Then there’s Bessie Low-Key, which is now #1 Son’s car. We are thankful Kevin scored a reasonably priced light assembly for it, and it can be installed today so he car will pass inspection.
As for Mr. Lenny, he tripped on a rug at his home and broke his hip, and all of us are thankful he is recovering after surgery.
On Wednesday, i was so very thankful that Sweetie and i have been added to the cat shelter’s emergency volunteer list. Even though they have had to go back to appointment only adoptions and even shut the shelter for a couple of days, he and i get to continue going in as usual.
Wednesday was also a red-letter day in that Ms. G gave me a face shield to use instead of a mask! It is much easier to work in than a standard mask, and i am thankful to have it.
On Thursday at Ms. V’s house, Carl, the special needs adult son, saw me in the shield and got very concerned. He reminded me that it would be much easier for me to touch my face with that than in a mask! His concern for me was touching, and i am very thankful for him.
Friday morning held an unpleasant discovery — one of the checks Ms. V had written to me was not able to be deposited (it was for the work i’d done for Carl, so it came from his account). He had used it as a check-by-phone for something, and didn’t write it on the check or in his register, so i am very thankful a quick phone call to Ms. V got another check written and Sweetie got it picked up and deposited.
Friday saw extra work for Mr. BA, which is a bonus thankful.
