A Wednesday Whine

Ol' Bessy, my aging, ailing laptop, also called Old Crankypants, is getting crabbier and crabbier.  Yesterday, i wrote out a post, and she wouldn't save it for anything.  All the time went for nothing as blogger supposedly autosaves, and i found out the hard way, it doesn't where Ol' Bessy is concerned.

After hitting publish, and shutting her down again for not responding, i finally get back in, and the whole thing was gone.  It not only hadn't published, it hadn't even saved during any of that time.

So, i will have to start over, which makes me almost as cranky as my very old computer.  Meanwhile, i decided to have a bit of a whine, but no cheese.  After all, i am a vegan.

This got me wondering if there's anything else i can while about while i'm at it.  After all, might as well get it all over with at once.  There was one lady who, when she was a girl and wanted to whine and complain, would be told by her mother that she had 15 minutes, to have at it.  She would usually find herself laughing by the time her mother's timer went off.  From that i learned, just get it all out, with a time limit, and it all seems better by the end.  Or at least funnier.

But all that thinking hasn't brought up too much else to whine about.  Really, i can't complain, although i could wish Ol' Bessy would get over herself a bit.

That reminds me of the one older man who, when asked how he was doing, would always answer, "Oh, can't complain, can't complain.  The wife won't let me!"   Much to the amusement of all who asked him, he would laugh, too.

It used to be, when i was asked for identification for any reason, i would get it out with a smile and say, Don't worry, it's really me -- no one else would want my life!

Since then, though, i've realized i have a pretty good life.

Ol' Bessy might be the death of me yet, you never know.  Meanwhile, there's not much else to fuss about.

Sunday, September 13, 2009

You know it's going to be one of those Sundays when it rained the two days before, so you haven't been able to do the laundry (line drying), it's going to rain again today (so you will do the laundry and try to hang it indoors as best you can, which means smaller loads and other problems), someone left the kitten food out the night before and the adult cats gorged themselves on it and got sick, #2 Son is sleeping on the couch with a barf bucket next to him, you have Sunday School to teach and have to get one kid to the church an hour ahead of everyone else because she has to be there to run the pro-presenter for the service, the dishwasher is running already after you got up to find the family raided the kitchen half the night, and it is only5am.

Could somebody tell me why I didn't stick to goldfish? Oh, yeah, they have bucketloads of water to leak all over the place and tons of equipment needed to maintain their quality of life.

I would ask for a vacation, but I still have to find laundromats when we go anywhere and those turn into as much work as any other days, since our vacations find us at condos with me still doing the cooking and cleaning.

A judge recently dismissed someone's lawsuit again the Almighty, because there is no address at which to serve Him with legal papers. So I guess that also means I have no place to send in my resignation letter.

I would say, another day, another dollar, but I don't even get paid for this stuff.

This morning's blog started out to be one big whine fest (want some cheese with that?), so I canned it. I am frustrated by so much right now.

I have come to the point of considering a clothes dryer a luxury item, because of the electricity used to run it. I keep trying to switch to a cheaper phone plan, and they keep raising the prices. I want to get rid of the tv, but the family would stage a rebellion.

I feel like we could make do with so much less, if only the family would cooperate more. I have cut what I could where I can and the rest they fight me on, tooth and claw. I have cut my own needs down to bare minimum, to the point of rationing my food intake to make sure I don't waste a penny.

I get complaints, especially from brother-in-law, if there is not enough of the choice items to go around. I see so much waste, although less and less of that is food, as we have less food in the house. Twice as much shampoo used as they need. Handfuls of paper towels used where one would do.

In all of this, I am the horrible ogre.

It's a tough role, and I am tired.

I guess, no matter how much I rewrite and edit, this whole thing is a whine.

Sorry, the cheese is being saved for a recipe tomorrow night.
