Comeaux and Strontium and Dates and More (Random Tuesday)

And now, a bit of random news from around here, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked.

Comeaux got "fixed" and microchipped yesterday.  Dumpling is still at least two weeks away from being big enough for her surgery.  When he got home, Comeaux was still very loopy, and poor Dumpling kept trying to get him to play.  He would lie there and fall asleep with her chewing on his ears.  Finally i had to take pity on him and put him up on a chair she could not climb so i could watch him and he could nap in peace.  

Bigger Girl is going forward with her roller derby training.  She now has the money for her own skates and safety equipment instead of having to use the general team equipment.

Yesterday at work she got to make the special whatever it is they make in the science lab on campus where she has her student job.

"Mom," she said, "it was very labor intensive, but I got to do it!  I had to measure out exactly .000237mg of sodium for the solution.  Do you know how hard it is to measure out exactly that much sodium?  Oh, and I've decided I hate working with strontium."

My sentiments exactly, i responded, then went and looked up strontium.  No, i don't want to work with it much, either, but i'm not a scientist.  Being the janitor, i'd just have to clean up after the scientist, i'm sure.

Little Girl came in and discussed her plans about going to school in a small town about a 45 minute drive from here.  While we were talking, she opened the fridge and grabbed the container of dates.

"Oh, dates!  I didn't know you had dates.  I'm going to go on a date!"  She grabbed one, then laughed and grabbed another, saying "I may go on a double date!"  Got to love a kid with a sense of humor.

Yesterday i started trying to call Ms. JAI around 11am to see if she needed me.  (Like many of my other older clients, she has earned the right to sleep in if she wants, and she wants.)  Every time i called i got the message that "your call cannot be completed at this time" and it worried me.  Around 1pm, i gave up and went over there to check up on her.

Turned out she'd accidentally left the phone off the hook, and was wondering why i hadn't called.  She was glad i'd come, she wanted all the sinks, tubs, and toilets scoured with the pumice stone.  Also, her phone didn't stop ringing while i was there.  All the people who had tried to call her since the night before were as worried as i was!

Sweetie has a new pastime.  When he watches a movie on DVD, he stops at each scene and writes down all the product placements he sees.  No, i don't know why this is so fascinating to him, but if it keeps him amused, let him have at it.

Today is my appointment to take the twins in for their glamor shots, a/k/a getting my annual mammogram.  Ladies, if you need one, please make that appointment soon.  Gentlemen, you know you need to see a doctor once a year also and get certain things, like PSA levels, checked.  Please don't delay.  Early detection is critical in saving lives.

It was very hard to get a photo of them because they were moving, here are Comeaux and Dansig.  Comeaux is "making biscuits" (treading his paws as he would have when nursing on his mama) on Dansig while Dansig gives him a bath.

Dansig is the only one of our adult cats to always unconditionally accept every kitten.

The kittens are always grateful for him.
