If the Wall Won't Hold Toilet Paper, Wordless Wednesday and Words for Wednesday

Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts that encourages us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.

This month, the prompts are being provided by Margaret Adamson and her friend Sue Fulcher, with some pictures by her friend Danny McCaughan, and are posted by Elephant's Child.

This week's prompts are phrases.

...Add insult to injury

And/or

Nothing ventured...

Over at the cat shelter, back when it was having a major rebuild, everything was gutted and renovated, even the restrooms.

In one restroom, they tried to attach the toilet paper holder to the wall.  After all, nothing ventured, nothing gained, it was worth trying.

And trying and trying.  It never held.  Stud finders were used to try to attach it to a more secure place, to no avail.  Eventually, at some point, the whole holder would fall off of the wall.

To add insult to injury, when it would fall, the toilet paper roll would do just that, roll to the furthest corner of said restroom.  The place you just could not reach, of course, when you were in your most vulnerable moment.

Finally, after about two years, someone remembered that they make such gizmos as you see in the Wordless Wednesday picture above.

It's so nice to have that problem solved.  Now if only we could convince everyone to have their pets neutered.

  1. That is a great toilet paper holder if it stays upright. I am for pets to be neutered because it is so sad to see some irresponsible owners throwing their pet's babies away to be strays.

  5. Toilet rolls should be super-glued. That way, when they roll off they do not unwind all over the place.

    God bless.

  6. Mimi,

A place you don't want to be stranded without a roll which always makes me think of the song parody as a kid that went sorta like this (sung to the tune 'Branded')...'Stranded. Stranded. Stranded it on a toliet bowl. What do you do when you're stranded without a roll? To prove you're a man, you must wipe with your hand. Stranded. Stranded. Stranded on toliet bowl.' LOL Anywho, so glad the bathroom TP problem is now solved. :)

  7. We like the toilet paper to be on the wall. The people that have it like your photo think it is fancier or something, but it is toilet paper, just hang it on the wall and forget it!

  8. Just another TP story. And I thought I'd heard them all!

My husband is in charge of changing the roll because the fittings are a bit loose. He accused me loosening the screws when I tried to change the roll. So I said "OK, do it yourself."
He forgot 1 time!!! And he never never ever ever forgot again!

  9. That works. I've seen that done before. At least it will stay where you put it. Great take on the prompt too.

Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥

  11. Often times the toilet paper is place in the most awkward places.
I think we might want to focus a little more on being kind to one another. We can learn to disagree without being hateful toward one each other.
I have been to the Vietnam Memorial and it is a powerful symbol, honoring those who gave their last full measure of devotion to this great nation.

  12. And now I want Indian Pudding...
(They make an Indian Pudding ice cream, too, ya know!)

  13. A wall too weak to hold a paper holder?? That's pretty shonky construction and the builder should be ashamed. And made to rebuild in my opinion. I wouldn't like a stand-alone holder, I'd be the unlucky person who reached and knocked it over.
    Good story though.
