The Happy Time of Year (Ten Things of Thankful)

***********************************

It's the Thankful Day before Christmas!

Today i am thankful that i get to go see Grandma and Grandpa, as well as make arrangements to go back for Christmas.

For the first time in a while, Bigger Girl is coming along, and i'm very thankful for that.

Little Girl has the day off on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so she and i can drive down there and both be doing the marathon of cooking and cleaning.  What a blessing!

Sweetie can keep the car up here for Christmas Eve and so be able to get himself to the Christmas Eve service.  He gets to sing in the choir and i get to watch on livestream.

Tomorrow evening is the Service of Nine Carols and Nine Lessons at the Episcopal church up the street from our church.  Sweetie was so impressed with the choir at that church at Pilgrimage that we are going to go to that, and i'm thankful because i really think we will both enjoy it.

As soon as that lets out, we will walk back to our church for the Live Nativity show.  We will get to see Amos the donkey and Bubbles the Camel, and the fainting goats!

Dr. D is out of town, and yes, i will miss her on Monday.  Thankfully i can offer my services to my Wednesday lady instead, so she doesn't have to miss out.

We've been listening to lots and lots of Christmas music, it leaves me feeling happy.

Also we've been working a lot lately, i am thankful we've had a bit extra and i will be just as thankful for a nap Sunday afternoon.

Mostly i'm just thankful for this time of year.  Merry Christmas, everyone!

Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Kristi and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

  1. Believe it or not, I'm thankful that Christmas will soon be over. I pretend I'm as cool and relaxed as always, but I seem to get more stressed by Christmas as the years go by.

  3. I am thankful for your blog. It always lifts my spirits. This time of year can be filled with so much nostalgia and longing for what we thought we used to have that I have to be careful.

  4. Humbug Day -- those frustrated with their holiday preparations are allowed up to 12 humbugs today,

I think I will get busy with the lyrics.
On the first day of humbug my (fill in the blank) gave to me (fill in the blank)

Your holiday appears to have NO Humbugs. :) I am thankful for that.

  5. For some reason I have such a great holiday feeling in me. I put my Christmas tree up in the middle of November, I've watched 35 Christmas movies, more and more Christmas feeling. I love it so much. Mimi, have a Merry Christmas my friend.

  6. So many beautiful things to be thankful for! I would have to say: Soft, quiet snow; Christmas preparations progressing; family dropping by; middle son home for Christmas; Christmas program written; beautiful Christmas concert last night; Santa visits winding down; dislocated rib healing in time for the holidays; class finished till the New Year; rehearsal in an hour with five of my grandkids; stockings hung; New stocking made. And many more...
I think I prefer 'Look at the Bright Side Day' to 'Humbug Day' Of course if it gets the frustrations out so the happy can come back in, I'm all in favour!

  11. Merry Christmas Mimi! Christmas music makes me feel happy and so many times brings tears to my eyes because of how beautiful the music is and how the words of the songs touch my heart. This can be a challenge if I am singing with a choir. :-)

  14. Merry Christmas to you! How wonderful to be talented enough to sing in a choir. I usually lip-sync at church (shh, don't tell!). I think live Nativity scenes are awesome. Do you think there are probably more volunteers down south? I need to turn on the Christmas music! Thanks for sharing.
