This is starting to get bizarre, or at least old, this getting to Thankful Day with lots of craziness and lots of it could have been worse thankfuls.
Maybe this week it's time for bad news/good news thankfuls. Sort of a change of pace.
Bad News, my back went out on Monday searching for something for Dr. D. Good News that makes me thankful, naproxen took care of it on the days i had to work anyway until it finally settled down.
Bad News, Tuesday was the day the disasters really started, with water leaks and lost cats and all. Good News that makes me thankful, Handyman Mike knew how to fix things, Handyman Mike came back twice to work on it even when he couldn't spare the time, Handyman Mike charges a reasonable amount (and wasn't going to charge us for the last visit, but we made him take gas money since he'd driven an hour to get here), Sweetie didn't complain about having to haul water to the kitchen sink for two days and the cats are all still here, present and accounted for.
Bad News, my Wednesday lady, Ms. G, has pneumonia and couldn't let me come this week. Good News that makes me thankful, she does not have Covid-19. She is medically fragile and i wouldn't give you a plugged nickel for her chances if she caught that.
Bad News, Ms. SE's house was a disaster and the children got underfoot and her best friend in the world was there because of problems in her own life and the whole thing was just a mess. Good News that makes me thankful, we got through it and it made her day better that one thing she didn't have to worry about was her house.
Bad News, because of having to have two different repairs done to it to stop it from leaking, the water heater in the kitchen started behaving oddly, only giving us hot water in fits and starts, and the cord was starting to get hot, meaning it is now having electrical trouble. Good News for which i am thankful, i found it before it could start a fire and unplugged it, and even if we have no hot water in the kitchen sink, we do have water in the kitchen sink and we can heat water whenever we need it.
Bad News, my long time every other Friday client's husband has been laid off from his job and they cannot afford to keep us until he gets work. Good News for which i am thankful, they are still good friends, precious church members we love, and if he can get another job once things open back up, they will want us back lickety split. Also, this means that, in the meantime, i will probably do more gardening and workshop work for Mr. BA on Fridays.
Is that enough Good News for which to be thankful to offset everything else? We certainly think so.
