Kitten season is picking up:
Solid black mama cat, only about 6 months old and desperately affectionate, has four solid black kittens and one solid white!

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border. Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey is sorely missed. Charlotte/Mother Owl always participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too. Spike's Best Mate often leaves a wonderful poem in the comments on one of our blogs.
This week the theme is Lost Sock Memorial Day.
You see them all the time
At the bottom of the hamper,
And ask yourself one question,
To where did the other one scamper?
Oh, those poor lost socks!
Oh, those lonely single ones!
Oh, those poor lost socks!
Wondering about their mate's locations!
We put them up with clothespins
On hangers on the wall,
Try to find one that matches,
We want to find them all.
Oh, those poor lost socks!
Oh, those lonely single ones!
Oh, those poor lost socks!
Wondering about their mate's locations!
Too often does it happen,
We mourn and shed a tear,
Lost one went to the hozone layer
Never to reappear.
Oh, those poor lost socks!
Oh, those lonely single ones!
Oh, those poor lost socks!
Wondering about their mate's locations!
Remember all those poor lost socks
All the service they did render
Before they went to the great beyond
How they covered your toes with splendor.
Oh, those poor lost socks!
Oh, those lonely single ones!
Oh, those poor lost socks!
Wondering about their mate's locations!

Lovely kittens. New life new hope.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
While I do love new kittens, I find it sad that cats are able to have them when they're barely past kitten age themselves. AND they can have more than one litter a year. Thank heavens for places like yours, where cats and kittens are desexed before being adopted out.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly, River. No time to enjoy their own kittenhood, poor souls.
DeleteThat poor mother cat. At least she and her babies are in the right place, and can look forward to a better life.
ReplyDeleteLove your poem but have never lost a sock. Not once. Which might have jinxed me.
Glad that the mama cat and kittens are now in the home. They will be well taken care of. We all have to deal with lost socks.
ReplyDeleteAww! how very cute it's good they are all being cared for too
ReplyDeleteI liked your poem I have lost socks especially when washing them I find the eventually heheh!
Have a lostsocktastic day :-)
That poor young momma kitty. It is sad this time of year all the stray cats and dogs having little ones. Love the quote, it is very true!
ReplyDeleteOMG YOU POSTED: "An Indian fertility clinic announces that a 70 year old woman has successfully gave birth to a baby boy, 2016". I can't image trying now to keep up with a 5 year old as I turn 75.
ReplyDeleteI love your poem but I definitely think it needs a tune, that poem is a song!
ReplyDeleteDarling little kittens, I never thought to feel sorry for lost socks until now - MOL!
ReplyDeleteAwww on the kittens and that tired mom. So cute. Love it that there is one pure white one in the mix.
ReplyDeleteLove the Spark and it's ever so true and that poem made me smile. Yes the lost socks. So many over the years.

Love your poem, but it had me wondering. Do you have a tune to it?

ReplyDeleteAnd I'm with Charlotte! I'd love to sing along to your Lost Sock Memorial Day song! ;) AWESOME!
And happy 'Clean Up Your Room Day'!
Such a good mama. That white one reminds me of my angel Millie when he was a baby. Great poem, we all have lost socks. XO
