Pulling into the driveway, she was glad to see she'd gotten home first, there was no one around to hijack her plan.
She knew she wouldn't have long to get started, so she wasted no time lugging her bag into the house, dropping it in the usual spot, and then running for the bedroom.
Once behind the closed door, she took a deep breath, walked into the bathroom, and started the water. Bathrobe and slippers at the ready, she poured in bubble bath, then dropped the grubby work clothes in the hamper and settled in, taking in the warmth and scent, letting it overpower the work-worn muscles and brain.
As distant as a thunderclap, she heard the front door close, and smiled, as she knew she'd locked her bathroom door.
Let the husband and children beat on the door as they wished, she'd gotten ahead of them and wasn't getting out until she was good and ready.
