He Tries, It Just Doesn't Quite Work, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

***********************************

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus

When i arrived at Carl's, the dryer was empty, the sink full of socks and towels, the clothes in the washer had soured, and there was this.

The clip is part of a hanger.  Yes, he threw something in the washer with a hanger still attached.  It's no wonder he had no regular summer clothes to wear and had resorted to long sleeve winter items and Sunday shirts.

Well, scratch that.

I did find one good, clean shirt in this pile.  Later, he managed to get toothpaste on it, but I got it off in time.

Meanwhile, his fridge was "meaner than second skimmings" as the old country saying goes.  I was sure he'd been busy and not had time to make anything and i was right.

Indeed, when he got up and was done with his shower and dressing, he talked.

He started in with mumbling something about a storm and his hours at work.  I asked if he was on his usual hours and he said he was, so i never caught what he meant.

"I need to get with my friends," he said.  "We like to play games.  I try to get them to exercise, but they don't always want to."

Carl has really done well on his exercises, he lost enough weight not to be pre-diabetic any longer and he had to change belts because the first one he grabbed is now too loose on him.

"How many graduates?" he suddenly asked, and when i figured out he meant how many high school seniors are graduating at our church this year, i told him at least a dozen but I couldn't confirm the exact number.

He nodded then said with a smile, "Sam invited me to a crawfish boil at her church!"  He licked his lips in memory of it.  It seems this is the third crawfish boil he's been to this season and he's certainly not complaining about it.

"Dad told me to quit messaging my sister-in-law" he continued.

She might be busy or have a hard time getting to messages at certain times of day, i tried to diplomatically tell him.

"Well, I only message in the evenings..." he said.  What i did not say is she may have a hard time understanding his messages.  Having been on the receiving end of several, i can tell you he types like he talks, and sometimes it's not so easy to know what he's getting at.

"Does this need to be charged?" he asked, picking up his phone from the counter.

I told him since i'd found it in a pants pocket in a dirty clothes bin and no knowing how long it had been there, it was likely low.  He nodded and headed off to find a charge cord.

As we worked our way through the morning, he having breakfast and me packing his lunch and getting to laundry and cleaning, he touched on such topics as how bad politics and war is (it's always bad, i told him, only the locations change), whether he was watering his plant enough (stick your finger in the soil and see if it's moist, i told him and he seemed less than enthused), whether or not he should shave (he is sporting a neatly trimmed beard and as for whether he needed to trim on it that particular day, i told him not when he has to leave for work in less than five minutes), and whether he still owns a thermos or a watch (doubtful, i have not seen either in months, he will need to replace them again).

Eventually he loaded his gear in the car, then came back in and mournfully said, "There are no sunglasses out there, either," then left for work.

Add that to list of what he needs to replace.

How about some funnies.

Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!
