Name Tags and Graduates, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

***********************************

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus

Carl had been raiding the house linen closet again and there was no telling what was clean or dirty in the laundry room when i arrived except by playing the “does it smell clean or dirty” game.

How i still have a sense of smell at all after all these years is anyone’s guess.

He’s been grocery shopping again.

Trying to match his own socks, too, when he’s down to the bottom of the drawer and has to take the singletons that are left.

This pile had it all, pants, underwear, socks, belt and shoes all tucked inside each other.  Two unmatched shoes.  He probably wore them that way to work and no one noticed, not even him.

The fridge wasn’t bad and he’d made sandwiches.

Once Carl was up and came in his room, he surprised me by wanting to turn the radio up.   Usually he is always concerned with turning things down and leaves the volume so how it can be hard to hear.

He got out of the shower and actually put on the clothes we’d agreed on, then went for breakfast and remembered his apron without me reminding him.  That’s a banner day.

“Did you like the music yesterday?” he asked.

At church? Yes, i did, i told him.

“Seniors,” he added, and when i looked a bit confused, he said, “Were you there?”

Then i remembered we’d honored the high school seniors at church the day before and i told him i remembered.

I also asked him what else he’d done this weekend and he said, “My friend Dave was available, we did games.  I got to four levels, but the last is too hard...”

He trailed off and then talked about the library.  “They cancelled...”

What did they cancel? i asked.

“It rained!” he replied and i realized they’d had some outdoor activities planned.  He loves outdoor fun.

“My car didn’t work,” he continued.

Your car? i asked.

“Yes, at the store, but I had some cash...”

That’s when i realized he was saying his card didn’t work.  He must have bought all the crackers with cash.  It also explains why that’s all he bought.

Once he was done with breakfast and we were moving toward him leaving, he went out to the car and i noticed he was having trouble.  He used the key to open the door (he lost the “clicker” long ago) then tried to lean across to open the passenger door.

I felt badly for him and opened the door and pressed the unlock button.

You can do it this way, too, it’s easier, i told him.

“Oh, yeah,” he said, blinking with a bit of confusion.

Then i told him i’d bring him a name tag, since he’d forgotten and i told him to get more of them,  he’s down to one (from five).

Right before he drove off he said something about “he moved last week.”  I’m not sure who or what, but Carl moved toward work and that’s the only moving i’m worried about on a Monday morning.

How about some funnies for the graduates.

Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!

  1. Graduation Day is something I never experienced, I left high school early and got a job, and back in those days primary schools didn't have graduation days. These days some do and some just have a graduation dance night.

  2. I graduated, but it was pretty low key.
Carl definitely did have a good day - and it is just as well you still have a sense of smell (though I suspect that is a mixed blessing for you).

  7. It is very interesting to compare the things that Carl remembers (like the seniors at church) with what he forgets (like nametags, socks, how to open the door). But we guess there is no way to know what goes on in his mind. Glad you were able to get him moving.

    Love that online diploma meme:)
