Ms. G has known for a few weeks now she would have family company coming to spend a few days, and we've done some stuff to get ready but with her constant back and knee trouble it hasn't been nearly enough.
Yesterday she had Ms. Tammy outdoors pulling weeds and pressure washing while she and i did a grueling six hour marathon of cleaning, including (and i have no idea why it was needed, since the relatives will not be looking there) vacuuming under her bed!
About 2 hours in, Ms. Tammy disappeared and Ms. G about blew a fuse and went down the street to try to find her at her house to ask why she'd left with so much still left to do.
She found Ms. Tammy trying to corral a neighbor child, about 8 years old, severely autistic and naked as the day he was born, who had gone running down the street and was now running all over Ms. Tammy's house two doors up from Ms. G as Ms. Tammy had left the door unlocked for Grandma to sit outside; the child is known for running in other people's homes if they leave the door unlocked and was jumping on furniture, climbing bookshelves, helping himself to cookies, and just running circles everywhere while Ms. Tammy was in a panic.
Ms. G called the police and filmed the whole thing so as to protect herself and Ms. Tammy from any accusations and the father of the child, who'd blinked while watching his boy, came running down the street when he heard the commotion as he'd been out looking for the child.
Once the situation was in hand, the police were assured the child was safe and the father was taking him home, Ms. G came back and a short while later Ms. Tammy did, too, and we resumed our regularly scheduled programming.

I'm so glad the boy got taken home safely. In previous homes I vacuumed under beds but not here, I don't have enough room to properly manouver the vacuum.

A very impressive fence. It's a good thing Miss Tammy went after that poor child. To think what could have happened if she hadn't been outside working at the moment.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is so sad to have a child who is in that condition and to have to keep such a close eye on them. Thank goodness for good people in the neighborhood as that child would be an easy target for those with sinister minds.

ReplyDeleteOh goodness...that was a terrible thing for the boy never mind his caretakers and the neighbors.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a lot younger I would occasionally shove the bed aside and vacuum. But it is heavy oak and not something I want to take these days. That fence is so cool! I would love one like it if I had the home and land to "support" it.

That's a great poem......I think they may be carrying "fresh fish" a little far with people wandering through the water catching their own BUT it's a novel idea anyway! LOL

ReplyDeleteIf this is true, I am glad the police were amicable- I have heard some horror stories involving autistic youth and uneducated police officers. In Alaska, we have a special unit that responds to these kinds of calls that are not police officers, and I think that is a wonderful way to handle it.
