That's Why You Need It Washed, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

***********************************

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus

Carl's apartment door was locked when i arrived, not a good sign.  I proceeded to the laundry room.

Not too bad, actually.  Then back to his door, which i unlocked to talk to him.  Yes, he had the day off, he said something which sounded like Kim somebody or other.

A day off, with all the complications appertaining thereunto, can be a bit daunting.  Often Carl is back and forth into his room like a ping pong ball, and when i was gathering his bedding and pajamas, he was arguing with me.

"But I always sleep with one of my pajama tops on top of my pillow!"

He likes the texture of the pajamas, not of the pillowcases.

Could pillowcases be purchased in that material?  Why yes, yes they could, but as Ms. V says, he has plenty of pillow cases in the house and it wouldn't be frugal.

Thus he sniffed through his pjs and found one top clean enough to sleep with, which, as i told him, proves that's why he needs them washed at least once a week.

Once he was safely ensconced in his sleep chair, for as long as he should chose to remain there, i got laundry going and tidied, finding the following:

Corn and callus pads everywhere.

A new product for him to leave lying around.

A bag in the fridge with an empty container in it.

Oh, and i beg his pardon, he did have something to save in the bag, part of a flat soft drink.

The good part is there was no rush to get him out the door.  I was uninterrupted for almost an hour when he came back in his room, brushed his teeth and said he wanted to get up very soon for, and again it sounded like Kim something.

When he came back, we picked clothes and put them in the bathroom for his shower, so he was mostly dressed when he exited.

He repeated his destination when we talked again and it turned out he wanted to go to Camp Shriver, one of those summer camp days at local churches or parks sponsored by Special Olympics.

I looked it up online and they'd started much earlier in the morning.  I reminded him they were already in full swing and would end at 2pm, it might be too late to actually go.

"Then Camp Sunny Day," he said.  At least he's flexible and he has options for people with special needs like his.

Our talk this morning was shorter than usual as once he was up, he really was in a hurry to get going.

I'd found an iTunes card in his sleep chair and told him he'd have to call to find out if it was good or had been used.  He nodded, took it from my hand, and then threw it on his kitchen counter.  I could have done that, i muttered drily under my breath.

"The library moved the stuff," he told me, and went into details i didn't quite catch.  He doesn't like things being moved around.

"But I saw the concert."

Concert? i asked and he said, "Memorial Day.  I saw part of it."

Ah, i got it.  He was at the library on Memorial Day when he found out they'd moved something particular he likes, and while there he happened to catch part of the concert band Memorial Day performance which they have at the library each year.

I asked if he enjoyed it, and he said he had.

Then he talked about a store he'd gone to, where his friend goes frequently, "And they had this CD for only a dollar, can you believe it?"

I expressed proper amazement that such a cool CD was so inexpensive, but didn't have the heart to tell him i wasn't familiar with the group.

He left a moment later, and whether he ended up with the Special Olympics group or the other group, i am sure he had a good day off.

How about some funnies.

Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!

  12. Carl keeps you running and very busy. I bet he gets some good rest at night. I love your stories. Those Racoons. hahaha....they love trash. In the more mountainous regions here lots of attacks from Moose. The females, who are very protective of their young. Yet the people who get too close are surprised when they are injured. We bought new pillows again. The first set was too hard and these are perfect but the pillow protector covers are shiny so our cases were slipping out as we slept. I changed them to the old ones which are nice cotton fabric. Voila! Problem solved. I hope you are having a wonderful week.
