Back to Business As Usual, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.  

Carl is back to work and back to his usual hours after the prior two weeks, one with early hours and then last week off.

He wore every item of his work clothes, with very few exceptions, on his week off.  Why?  Habit.  He has no executive function, but once he is in a habit, try breaking him of it.  Or better yet, don't, use it to help him do something positive and useful.

The laundry room was in quite a state and none of the clothes smelled right, everything washed had to be rewashed.

He was in the bathroom when i arrived and as he headed for his sleep chair, he was picking up all the pajama tops he likes to use over his pillowcases and sniffing them.  He wasn't very pleased and i reminded him they hadn't been washed since the prior Monday.  He chose one anyway and said, "Um, timer?"

How long do you want to sleep? i asked and he answered, "About an hour."

I mentioned he should set the timer on the microwave and he said, "Broken."

Going to the big kitchen, i messed with it and something was wrong, but after hitting the cancel button a few times and opening and closing the door once, i finally got it to cooperate, set it for 60 minutes, and went to start sorting all those clothes.

Also, i noticed all the accumulated paper.  It's been building up for a while and i consolidated it all into one box, then pointed it out to his mom.  Getting him to go through it and get rid of most is up to them.

I asked later about the food in his bed and he said, "It fell off my pajamas."  I certainly hope so, he doesn't need to be eating in bed.

This is why his gummy vitamins and i do not get along.  He's out of them for the moment, thank goodness.

Once he was up and showered he told me about his weekend.  "There was a pool party for the church...international students."

Oh, yes, i told him, they were supposed to have a party last Friday evening how'd it go?

"We had fun.  My other friend is sick, though, and couldn't come."

I told him i was sorry and hoped the friend would be better soon, and asked about some other items.

Where, i asked, was the nerf and water pistol war?

He looked surprised and i told him he'd left his ammo and water pistol lying around.  He grinned his little boy grin and said, "Fun weekend."  Then he decamped for breakfast and i turned my attention to lunch and his ice vest.

The fridge did not look promising at first but did have a sandwich hiding in the back.  I gathered the rest of the things for him to take and packed it all.

He kept wandering in looking for things, CDs, his vest, asking me if he should throw some things out.  I told him going through the papers and throwing some of them away might be a good idea.  He look carefully at three of them, folded them in half and put them in the trash, then went back for more breakfast.

Just before he left, he told me, "My friend has some summer ideas so we can, you know, live life, not just work, he says we could volunteer, or put on a talent show..."

What would your talent be? i asked.

"Singing and dancing!" he said with a huge smile.  I don't know about the singing part, but he does love to dance.

And do crafts at the Sunday school class for special needs adults.  He's a big kid and that's fine by us.
