On this blog, when i say "Grandma and Grandpa," i mean my parents, my children's grandparents, and when i talk about Uncle J, it's my brother, my children's uncle, and right now because of damage last year, the kitchen is totally torn out, the final repairs are happening, but there's no way to cook, just warm food in a microwave, everything is in boxes all over and good luck finding it.
In the middle of a crazy busy Monday on a crazy busy week with meetings and could not miss it appointments, Grandma sent me a text the essence of which was, "We are so weak and sick, your Dad can't take care of me, he's not getting better, your brother is trying but he can't do it all, we need help."
In our family, usually what Grandma wants, Grandma gets, so i rushed through my day, rushed through my appointment, canceled going to my meeting and sent my Sweetie to bring what I was going to bring to someone else who could take it, packed and risked taking Slow-Moe, the very old car, to NOLA -- the cavalry was on the way.
I got down there and Grandma was so weak she couldn't get out of the bed to get to her bathroom, Grandpa was shuffling around and coughing and looking lost, and poor Uncle J, with his bad back, trying to take care of them both, so we had supper delivered and i sent Grandpa to lie down and Uncle J to rest his back and i took care of Grandma until i finally got her to go to sleep close to midnight -- three snacks, two visits to the bedside "facilities," and countless times helping her with the remote control which she was shaking too hard to work correctly.
Tuesday morning, i rushed back up here to our area, took care of the baby so her parents could get to their work meetings they could not miss, then got back down there for another night with Grandma, which went better as she was stronger and more able to walk with her walker, and i got her to go to sleep early enough to help straighten up her sleep schedule.
On Wednesday very early i was able to fold my tent and steal back up here again to go to work where Ms. G, who is out of town, needed me to run a special errand and then go do critter care at her house, which got interrupted when GusGus (the other old, precarious car) had a check your tire light go on but it all got done anyway and the tires are fine after airing up and no more running to NOLA until Saturday.

Today i am thankful Grandma and Grandpa are both feeling better, no need for me to keep running back down there. I get to go back on Saturday for the regular cleaning, and that's it.
